So the last two or three posts I've made on this forum show up as double posts, even though I'm only clicking the post button once. I'm using Firefox 3.
Is this a known issue, or is it an issue with the way my browser is configured/set up?

Yeah sorry, it's a known issue. They're not actually double posted. It's just a visual glitch that happens occasionally. It'll get fixed soon :)

The forum is once again in the Twilight Zone. I'm experiencing deja vu (a glitch in the Matrix?)

yeah, the servers went out of sync in the early hours of the morning. damn. they're back in sync now, but the heavy load they're under doesn't help!

The hamsters inside the servers need to run faster. Give them more caffeine!

I thought the problem were the 'ineffecient' DB queries?i've had a hunt for bad queries and unfortunately, while there are some, they are not the problem. the problem is in the message counts. to keep track of counts for all active users for all the threads they've cast their eyes near, storing a large amount of rows is unavoidable.
there are fixes that can be done at application level. but they're all non-trivial (read: very time consuming).
the new server will be considerably more powerful than the current two, and also have more RAM. it'll alleviate the worst symptoms and buy us time to do the harder fixes.
