I have been vjing with DJV1000s for a few years now. I want to switch to VSL but I don't know what computer I can buy. I have tried a new macbook pro but there are so many issues with leapord... Any suggestions?

what are your issues with your mbp and leopard? that's what most people are running vsl on.

Biggest videocard and RAM you can afford. Buy the ram and upgrade it yourself (get the right 00 screwdriver!!)

All my problems went away when I bought a mac. Well not all my problems. Just DJ/Computer related.

ive been crackin out on this for weeks....... basically a used 2.4 macbook pro with 512 mb video( and many 256) is running 1500 - 2000...... USED! an XPS is only runnin about 1000 ( from the dell outlet)....... NEW!!!!! they basically hv the same specs........ is a macbook pro really that good??? the xps is 2.4 duo core 3 gb ram and 256 mb video ram....... will this work for vsl?
itchie 10:08 PM - 21 September, 2008
yes the xps will work. I have one. but you will FOREVER have problems with droped frames when loading tracks using s-video out. It is not hardware accelerated. It's the pc's video card. The mac doesn't have these problems. Good luck recording without using hardware accelerated s-video.

just go mac. you will not regret. racers have a saying. speed cost money - how fast do you want to go. it may be costly but its think of it as investing
itchie 3:26 AM - 24 September, 2008
it actually doesn't cost more because you can achieve betters results than a PC with a lowere spec'ed mac.

Sho Nuff!!! One additional thing with the mac series is if you need to store videos, using the firewire is much faster than messing with the USB. The Macbook comes with it built in.
