New Java script that keep wanting to stop my sidekick.

sixxx 9:12 PM 19 July 2008
Has there recently been an addition of a javascript to the old forums that's acting kinda weird? I'm sure there are probably a few with the new site and all but for some reason in the past few days every time I go to ANY PAGE in the old forums, I get this message that says:

A script to this Web page is causing the browser to run slowly. If it continues, your device my become unresponsive. Continue loading or stop the script?

This has never happened before on this website. I saw it on myspace but we know how fucked up their coding is....

I know it's not my sidekick cause I've restarted it a few times.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Yeah... Get an iPhone... :P

oooh, You Dj so bad your sidekick won't let you access www.scratchlive.net
sixxx 10:43 PM 19 July 2008
Oh yeah. I meant my new iPhone not my sidekick.

Liar ;)

There's been a small change in the Javascript on scratchlive.net, to do with the new searching. But it really shouldn't be running slowly... It's a tiny thing. How old is this Sidekick?
sixxx 12:03 AM 21 July 2008
hahahaha. :)

Yeah. It's the sidekick III and thanks for the info Mattie G. :P

Oh, does it do the same thing when browsing serato.com on your Sidekick? Reason being the same bit of Javascript is on serato.com too...
sixxx 3:22 AM 21 July 2008
Let me check...

This is the message I got when trying to log on to the new site....

The Web Brower service encountered an error while getting the page serato.com/login
sixxx 3:27 AM 21 July 2008
trying again...
sixxx 3:31 AM 21 July 2008
Cool. I can see the script working on the new page but not causing any problems to the sidekick besides it running a bit slower; Not by much though. So, I'm logging on to the new one from my sidekick from now on.

:)

Thanks!

Hm. Interesting. Not sure what that's about then.

Either way, scratchlive.net will be updated to be a lot more like serato.com soon, so there'll be less difference between (except visually).

:)

I take it back. I won't be using the new site on my sidekick as I can 'hit' the preview or post buttons. :(
Matt G 10:13 PM 21 July 2008
Really? Hmm. Sounds like the Sidekick's web browser is a bit behind the game there :(
sixxx 10:23 PM 21 July 2008
Yeah. I think the same thing happened with myspace's new javascript.

I hope we get an update soon. I'm liking the new website on my sidekick. It's easier to read. :)

Thanks for all your hard work. (no misquote)

In time we hope to make simplified versions of the sites, designed specifically or small devices. We're not going to be able to get round to that soon though.
sixxx 10:47 PM 21 July 2008
WOW. That's awesome! :)

I used to be able to access the site flawlessly on my Blackberry, but since you've updated the java stuff, it does the same thing that Sixxx' sidekick does. It sucks. I can no longer access the site whatsoever from my blackberry. It just keeps trying to load a script.
sixxx 10:35 PM 19 August 2008
I just stop the script cause it doesn't do anything. Well, I'm sure it does, but I let the page load and right after that I get the message. After it stops loading the page. So I just stop the script and keep going. :)

i use 2 diff sidekicks. the sidekick 3 and the new 2008 sidekick and i get the same messages.

its just annoying. doesn't really affect what i'm doing. as soon as th page loads i hit the stop button to avoid that script message.

but anyway...
