Volume decrease when laptop is disconnected.

I had my 57 at a gig last night and I noticed that when switching DJs the volume is lower with no laptop connected. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know a fix?

I'm using 1.8 with OSX 10.5.2 and the 57 is on the latest firmware.

Cheers!

master volume (in ssl) might be higher?

Yep, I had this problem as well, never figured out the cause of it. I recently reformatted my laptop and now it doesn't happen anymore. Master volume could be it, not sure.

I had a look at SSL and the master gain is on 0 so I don't think it was that. Anyone with any other ideas?

cheers

yes i experience this and no, i dont know a fix. maybe auto-gain?
Ive noticed a volume difference also between my macbook and another djs. they normally just use the SL1 box, so i figured that had something to do with it... i just adjusted the volume to compensate. ill try to trace the problem next time we spin, cuz it is pretty annoying once you notice it.

So yeah: master volume, autogain, and isnt there a gain adjustment on the SL1 hardware? (sold mine) ...maybe that has something to do with it?

Forgive my ignorance but what is the Auto Gain for? I don't have it on anyway and the decibel figure next to it is at 92dB, which I'm assuming is the default as I've never touched it. Is this figure set to 92dB on other people's set ups?

This is caused by the phono sensitivity setting in SSL. You can work around it by making sure your DJs plug and unplug the USB cable whilst SSL is running on the laptop.

Awesome! thanks for the response, I'll give that a try asap.

Thanks again.
