switching laptops with a 57

JEM 357 8:53 PM - 19 June, 2008
Hi im djing tommorow with the 57 and the other fella has the scratch live box. When we want to swap over can i just switch 1 output, put on a vinyl record and simply unplug my laptop and plug his in (both macbooks) then he can use the mixer

Cheers !

Why does he need his SSL if you are using the 57? If you have the vinyl, drop it, and pull out the usb chord on your laptop and plug it into his. Unless I am reading your post wrong... seems pretty straight forward

or you can wire in the the SL1 box to the ttm57 and have one laptop connected to the SL1 and the other to the ttm57 then you will not need to switch laptops at all.

You didn't unplug it while Serato was playing a song, did you?

I ask because if Serato froze when you unplugged it and wasn't playing anything, what would have been the big deal?

the big deal is that Scratch Live isn't suppsed to freeze up from simply unplugging the USB

its all sorted, the drivers on his laptop just needed updating to recognise the 57 which we did the other day, we can now swap to our hearts content...GAME ON !

When I spin with my boy Novakane at his spot, we use an SSL1 connected to the SL57 so we can tag team without swapping in and out laptops...All we do is turn the channel selector switch to transitions laptops....If I had to keep swapping laptops, that would get tedious for me...

I am not sure if i understand what your saying can u elaborate because I do alot of gigs that we switch on and off so if we can do so without unplugging back and forth that would be great.

You need 4 rca cables and preferably the power adapter for the SL1.

Connect the entire junk up like this:

Left Turntable is connected to Input 1 on SL1
Right Turntable is connected to Input 2 on SL1
SL1 THRU 1 is connected to 57SL Input 1 (Set to Phono)
SL1 LINE 1 is connected to 57SL Input 2 (Set to Line)
SL1 THRU 2 is connected to 57SL Input 3 (Set to Phono)
SL1 LINE 2 is connected to 57SL Input 4 (Set to Line)

D1-Deck A on 57SL Laptop
D2-Deck B on 57SL Laptop
A1-Analog Vinyl on Left Turntable
A3-Analog Vinyl on Right Turntable
A2-Deck A on SL1 Laptop
A4-Deck B on SL1 Laptop

You will use the channel selector knob above each channel to swap between laptops.

You will think this is so ill when you have it hooked up and working.
