I was djing a small club last night and everything was working perfectly i got their way early and i was just messing around on it. I did sound check and everything worked great. So i play one of my premade 15 min mixes until i start at 9pm. I get on at 9 and people are already dancing to my premade mix i go to switch over to mix in the right deck and get to work blam right channel has no sound at all...... Was getting perfect signal, i can hear it in the head phones, the signal meter on the mixer was reading perfect. Just no sound at all when i turn the fader up. Well after ten minutes of freaking out because even internal mode produced no sound out of the right channel, I switched inputs and still nothing.
Anyways i couldnt load track on top of track all night because it was horrible so i announced on the mic i needed to turn the music off for a minute. I turned off the mixer and turned it back on and walla the right channel worked perfectly for the rest of the night. WTF??!?!?
It was pretty embarrassing to shut down the music at 930 and everyone on the floor was cool about it but the owner came up yelling and shit at me. I could careless if i lose this gig but this has never happened to me before with the 57, should i be worried it will happen again??? Or was it just a freak program glitch?

I learned the hard way like you that this happens...not often but it does. You need to be ready just in case. I keep in Ipod with me that I plug into the auxliary channel for these times. It's obviously more effective if Serato itself freezes up and not the mixer, but It will save you valuable dear air time while rebooting the mixer and attempting to load a track.

Actually i always do that as well, i had my ipod hooked up but when i restart the mixer there was still silence in the club.... I was about to sell my SL1 box too because i dont use it but i think i will be keeping it as a back up just in case.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago early in the set. Right channel dropped out, but it was on my SSL box, not a ttm 57. I had to restart the software, switching to cd's while I was waiting. After that, everything was running smooth again. Still, quite scary experience.

Well not really but for some reason when i restart my mixer while serato is on it throws a windows error and shuts down serato. SO basically i have to shut down serato, restart mixer then, start serato again LOL. Im using 1.8 final and it takes forever to shut down serato.

+10 get a Mac..
I have never had this problem with the channels going out. This is like the 4th thread i have read of such a problem. Do you clean your mixer at all. I'm in a very hot and dusty area (Iraq). I always clean the mixer just in case. But you should also be using 1.8.1 as Sixxx stated. That solved alot of problems. Also, try to duplicate it and let Rane know. Maybe it's something that may require you to turn it in for repairs or something....
On another note
You actually play a prerecorded Mix at your club? Y would you do that.. ne way good luck. Hopefully, you got everything sorted out.

Ltizzle, this is a hardware issue, a Mac won't help you in such a case ;)

I had somewhat of the same problem last night. This is the second time this has happened to me. I'm in the middle of a set and CRASH! I still get the tone out of the Technics, but my Serato tunes will not play. They will work and play in Serato but, no levels on my mixer and nothing going out to the club! I've had to switch to my pioneer decks. First time was fine, I played along side of a band and during their playing time I reset my mixer and restarted everything. Last night though I didn't have that luxury so I played a little "crippled." Very frustrating and not to mention embarassing. Hard to sell my GM on the idea of a permanent install with things like that happening.

This happened to me mid-mix when spinning at my boy novakanes spot... the left channel went out mid-mix..floor was packed.... everything was audible in the phones and i was getting proper tracking on the screen, but I could not hear the left channel when I moved the crossfader.
To this day, I dont know if I had accidentally hit the 'channel-swap' button, or what was the cause of this, but whatevers...
We believe the fix is to change the input channel selector knob to a different input channel, then back again to its original channel input selection. ( like move from the analog input to a digital input, then back to the original analog input. )
We connect an SL1 to the SL57, and my laptop is connected to the SL1.

I am having the same problem, and it won't go away with a restart. even when I'm in phono, the scratch live tone makes it to the mixer and to the headphones, but won't come out the main inputs. any suggestions?

after talking with rane, I double checked the ribbon connectors on the volume faders, which looked fine. So I unplugged them, cleaned them out with air, and switched them. And it worked! Until I booted up scratch live and the problem came back -- signal get to the mixer from both scratch live AND the phono inputs, makes it to the meter and to the headphones, but doesn't come out the booth or main outputs. PGM 2 works just fine. I just upgraded to v1.8.1 so i thought that was the problem. so I went back to 1.8.0 and no luck. help

Ok...so I won't be getting the 57 until this is fixed!! I love SSL and the 57 is the obvious choice but that kind of problem is SERIOUS...I do Radio mixshows and that would be sick if that happened while on air, even though i can easily work around the no sound issue thats still ridiculous for a mixer costing over 1k. Is there any type of warning similar to the usb dropout light??

the only warning that I remember was that my beats were blending on the output..lol... I only heard 1 channel...
this has only happened 1 time in the numerous times the mixer has been used... (every weekend for the past 6-9 months)... and novakane said he got the mixer 2nd hand...I have not had this problem with my SL57 at home.

I kinda thought that was what you meant...I've done some more research and I think I'll just stay with my current setup with my Rane 56...I'm sure someday
I'll flip just like we all did from LP's to Serato....LOL!

for anyone who cares, I found the where the problem lies - in version 1.8.0 and 1.8.1. Both versions run into this problem with the 57. After downgrading to 1.7.4, the problem dissappeared. Rane should fix it soon
