I'm using the M-Audio Axiom 25...very pleased. A few folks I know also use the trigger finger, but I wanted more controls and the 2 octave keyboard on the Axiom sets up nicely...plus it makes me feel like Howard Jones, and you can't put a price on that.

yeah going through the forum iy looks like alot of guys are using the trigger finger. I'm curious to know what people who are using the 57 use. I know not every club they play has a 57 and you can't just setup everyhwhere. SO what midi controller do you guys use? Like I said I'm looking into the nocturn, I'm going to get that in about 2 weeks test it out and then see what else I can test out. A good friend of mine's works at GC so I get to test out alot of gear. I get a month to test stuff out.

I use a 57 in my studio and in the clubs sometimes. I have both the 57 and an SL1. The 57 has 36 (6x6) buttons and two dials...the axiom 25 has 25 keys, 8 pads, 8 dials, transport controls and can transpose octaves for even more control over a broader range of programmable options. It kills the control surface of the 57.

I use a trigger finger it's small and has plenty of pads which are far more useful than knobs or sliders in SSL. I only really use it for autoloops and control everything else from the 57.

For me, It's just one more piece of equipment I have to find a place for. I want like a midi strip or something the size of like a Kaos pad.

Hey I was looking at this www.kentonuk.com
Nice and small, plus I heard it's built like a tank. Any users??? I hear people like it with Ableton.

I like the concept and it looks good, but there is absolutely no way I am paying 440$ for a midi controller. Way overpriced. To me, that's no more than $200.

Just thought I would share this. Korg has new slim controllers just for people like us. I will be buying one as soon as they come out. Sometime in October.

Yeah I saw those Korgs, looks interesting, but seriously rane just has to come out with a controller that replicates the 57 and I don't know anybody who wouldn't pick one of those up.

i have the 57 and love it but, it gets way to complicated when you are using effects and video and trying to cue loop etc. That why it looks good to me.

Didn't u get any problems of conflict between these 2 materials, because when i plug in the axiom25, my 57 drives mad and the axiom doesnt work !!!
but independently it works perfectly...
I was using a SL 1 and axiom 25 and it was perfect...
now i'm desperated...

If I use a small midi keyboard with SSL and with a TTM-57, can I map the FX to the keyboard or does SSL keep that exclusive to the TTM-57 (midi-wise)?

You can use midi for the fx panel. It is locked out. Would be nice though. I think it's counter-intuitive to have to remain on the FX screen when all of my other actions are on the other pages. I have this great mixer with all of these buttons that I can't use that are stuck on literally a 2 button fx action?

You CAN NOT use midi for the FX panel. I wish you could edit comments. :-(

That is exactly what I am SAYIN'! Changing pages FAST its not that easy, and has potential for some ridiculous mess-ups!
And no FX with MIDI??? EVEN IF I HAVE a 57 plugged in? Ninja-please!!!

Ok... so I have not yet got hooked up with SSL and i have a few Q's.
1. does it matter what kind of tables I use... I am considering a Stanton T60 Direct Drive Analog Turntable
2. I am considering a Stanton M303 10" 3 Channel Dance Mixer W/PG for a mixer... If anyone could help me out i would really appreciate it... Thnks

Here's how I'm using a midi controller. I've only one deck at home so was using the switch source button to enable me to mix with it. I found it a bit hard to only be able to adjust the pitch of the current track so I hooked up an old Numark Total Control MIDI controller to play the other track and allow me to do fine pitch adjustments whilst I use the Technics to launch the other track. Then I hit the source swap button (or whatever it's called) and do the same with the next track.
It works well :) Though I have way too many buttons on the Total Control. I mapped the midi to give me one button to switch the sources deck. And then a few more for pitch controls. Though I'm finding I'm only using pitch nudge + and -. I'm waiting for the Korg nano pads to come out so I can use that in the future.
I wish I could map MIDI to the effects - I find using the 57sl very fiddly for effects.

Yeah man.... I know it's Stanton but it looks pretty sick. Check out the vid on scratchworx. Those Korg nano's I think are out too.
