What are some tight old school hip hop songs that I can rock a crowd to?? I am looking for stuff like wrecks and effects, poison, that old school stuff that people know all the words to....

BBD's considered old-school now? damn, I'm gettin old :p. "Stuff that people know all the words to" is kinda nondescript... is that a euphamism for "Billboard tunes"?

I know what you mean about feeling old when they shout out 1991 in some of the tracks. I would translate the euphamism as classic jams that were good which is why we knew the words.

But I must ask...WHY PM DAWN, HAHAHHAHA!!!

Here's some more to throw in the list that I still like to rock;

KRS-One
Bobby Brown
Tribe Called Quest
EPMD
Craig Mack
Snoop Dogg
Leaders of the New School

Just keep an eye on the crowd cause some people have no idea that Busta Rhymes came from LONS...and had dreads!!!

What's the deal with PM Dawn? I remember the song when it came out, but I was kinda young. Everyone that's a little older than me HATES on PM Dawn. I was too young to have my ear to the streets back then, but I know the song - can anyone elaborate?

Your right d:raf, it was because they were marketed as Hip Hop. They were what Ja Rule is now...confused.

One song they were a super happy version of De La Soul, then tried to be hardcore and then did a slow track. I personally like the slow track, but that's it.

Krs-One beat them at a show to prove a point that fake mc's need to be dealt with.

That was about it.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure. I can see how they could get hated on when Hip Hop started to change after the early 90's. Makes sense. I still like "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss."

Monie Love - Monie In The Middle
Big Daddy Kane - Ain't No Half Steppin
Jungle Brothers - Girl I'll House You
De La Soul - Say No Go (you can't mess with a Hall & Oates hook)
EPMD - You Got's To Chill
MC Breed - Ain't No Future In Your Frontin'
Cypress Hill - How I Could Just Kill A Man
Volume 10 - Pistolgrip Pump
Mad Lion - Take It Easy
Little Shawn - Dom Perignon (is that biggie on the hook?)
Public Enemy - Can't Truss It
Salt-N-Pepa - I'll Take Your Man
Kriss Kross - Warm It Up
Warren G - Regulate

Yeah I know, a ten year old song is not Old Skool,.. it's just an old song. But I still rock a number of these in the set sometimes. Depending on where you're at, they work sometimes.

Actually A SONG IS considered BONAFIDE OLD SKOOL after 10 YEARS, NOT JUST AN OLD SONG.Subsequently, a lot of songs from 1990 to 1995 now qualifies as such.
