2 Questions about 57sl

dj-b 1:04 AM - 31 May, 2008
Is there any way to record a mix and not have the microphone record? Also, is it possible to have the FX left on and not be applied to the microphone? Those are 2 issues I've been wondering about for a while. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Absolutely.

Internal effects: yes.
External effects which are sent through the FlexFX chain: no.

Ok. How do you record a mix and not have the mic record?

Ah... sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you wanted to know how to record a mix vs how to record your mic.

No, unfortunately this is currently not possible :(

Er, it's possible: select "Mix" as the recording source, and turn off the mic.

Ha! Similar to what I was thinking. Which was, don't talk on the mic!
Seriously though, I've seen alot of hardware mixers with a record out and the main purpose of that is it doesn't output the mic input. I wonder if a software/firmware update could incorporate that? I don't know enough of the internal setup of the 57 to know if this is possible.

Technically this should be possible but you would also loose the Aux input and the FlexFX return from the mix as they all share a A/D converter so can't be separated in the DSP.
