Flange settings

DJ Sound Technique 4:58 PM - 26 May, 2008
Okay I have searched the forum and can't find anything useful regarding settings for the flanger on the 57, has anyone had any luck getting it even close to sounding like the one on a Pioneer? I just got my 57 and have played with all the settings on the flanger with no luck, sounds like crap!

I've had the same trouble. I'm probably like you, been used to using the Pioneer which is just so easy and sounds pretty good. Im coming round to the idea that i'm going to have to buy an effects unit which is a shame, but the FX are pretty difficult to use intuitively and quickly unless you just assign to the aux bus and swith in. Still won't sound as I want it though.

If anyone can help with this please do.

I don't think you can get it to sound like Pioneer's flanger, that's just not how it was designed to sound. I wish it would sound more like Pioneer's flanger though (and the phaser effect too), the 57's flanger sounds like Virtual DJ's flanger...cheap and cheesy.

And not that Pioneer's flanger isn't over used and played out and cheesy either, just that I think that's what most people expect a flanger effect to sound like.

Try using the phaser instead of the flanger, that sounds much more like Pioneer's flanger.
For the phaser I have my frequency set to around 1.3kHz, depth on full and feedback around 90%

Gonna try that at home. Was not amused of the flanger on the 57.

nobspangle....tried it and and it is almost similar with the pioneer phaser effect. I'll use that instead than the flanger. Thanks for tip !!

I gave it a shot, still could not get it to sound even close to the PIO flanger
