So i recently bought a ttm 57 SL, it works very nice
but the thing is that its to confusing, i would rather use the keyboard or a midi pad to assign cues or loops instead of the buttons in the mixer. Also its to expesive,
im having a weird feeling about the 57 SL and i think im going to return it to the store and get a ttm 56 or Numark DXM09, what do you think?

Uhh.. if you do take it back, get the 56, DO NOT get the DXM09. That was my previous mixer. Not a bad mixer, but the 56 beats it, hands down.

You need to get used to it... but frankly, I use the keyboard to set cues too. :) Nothing beats a screen. (no microwave)

Tell your mom it's your birthday money and you can do whatever you want with it.

I've seen that in a few places now about how people are saying that the TTM57SL is too expensive. I disagree. Buying a decent quality mixer and a SL1 kit is the same amount basically. Look at all the cool features the the 57SL unlocks!!
Guys complaining that it is too expensive are probably the DJ's that are playing for $10.00 / hr.

Chope: do you use DJF by any chance? I seem to remember someone posting this exact same question there.
The DXM09, and frankly just about any mixer made by Numark, is trash. There's absolutely no comparison between it and the 56 and 57. The 56 is like a $700 mixer, and the 57 is about $1500 (got mine new for $1250 shipped :D). The 09 is what, $300? The 09 is definitely aimed at house/techno/trance DJs, and has no scratching features to speak of. The 56 is a scratching legend, and the 57 has the same sort of turntablist-friendly features. If you want to scratch, the 56/57 is about as good as it gets, while the 09 isn't even made for scratching, and is far below the price area of the 56/57.
If you want a cheap scratch mixer, the Stanton SA-5 is a great choice. Audiolines has them for $180, which is a steal ($300 at Guitar Center). Don't just take my word for it: this mixer gets rave reviews all the time. High-quality faders and plenty of features, plus you save enough to buy an external effects unit and a good pad controller.
That said, the 57 is expensive in that it costs a lot for one piece of gear, but it is in fact very cost-effective. Consider this: how much is the SL1 and a TTM56 and a basic effects unit combined? The answer: a lot more than what I paid for my 57 ($1250 at AGIProDJ). If you don't scratch, I wouldn't get it. IN fact, even if you scratch, and you're a beginner and/or on a budget, I'm gonna steer you toward something like he SA-5 and an SL1 box. That said, the 57 has been well worth what I spent.

i wouldnt say that any mixer from numark is trash.
I had the DXM06 before the SL1 and i cant tell that much of a difference honestly the only thing i noticed is that the crossfader has a spring and post fader effects..

I used the 57 at a club as a guest dj the other night. The sounds and eq is crap compared to my DJM-800 srry Ill stick with the lil box and my mixer.

I definitely prefer the sound and feel of a Rane or UREI rotary mixer to my 57, but it's more than acceptable on all fronts.
The one thing that drives me crazy about the 57 is the steep cut-in of the program faders even on the slowest setting, but the crossfader on the slowest setting compensates for this.
DJM-800's EQ has a different sound to it, but I suspect it's comparable in terms of sound quality.
Personally I don't use the 57's effects at all (I favor an EFX-1000) but they're fine also. In my opinion, the 57 is altogether the best solution going right now.
