I know its been mentioned before (I mentioned it some place) I dont see any threads dedicated to it, and its probably something for 2.0+ and a TTM58 if ever.
Performance Recording, Automated Play Back and Editing
Imagine a small clock with some tape deck controls, start, stop, pause, rec etc. When you press record the movements of these controls are recorded into a automation file:
what songs loaded into what deck
vinyl movement
x-fader, up-down fader movement
EQ movement
cue taps, censor and loops
effects applied
so when you rewind and play, your entire performance is played back automatically
or you could open the file and edit the automation
(I guess) that it would require a whole lot less cpu to record automation then to record audio.
(I guess) that the file would be a whole lot smaller then an audio file, perhaps small enough that you could record ALL your performances.
It would be a pretty good way to make mixtapes
Automated Play Back and Editing, per File
Imagine loading a file pressing record on the Automator and all the same functions are recorded (less x-fader, vinyl movement).
Edit the automation manually.
Save the automation with the song so that every time you load and play all the automated functions kick in.
this would be like non-destructive editing of your files.

I think that is a great idea Akiem,
I remember way back, Tracktor had this feature, it was neat, was great for doing mixtapes... but... it was tracktor.
im sure the implementation of recording our movement of faders and vinyl is easy enough for the Serato Developers, as it reports positions of faders to the software already (VSL). The major problem would be the editing from what i see, would you be able to edit the vinyl movements you perform? how would you edit them? I guess you could position the editor at the point you want to edit, and record overtop. That would be AWESOME.
Akiem your always full of brilliant ideas.

cool, I didnt know Tracktor could do that.
The only software I use that has Automation is Digital Performer.
I could see moving the clock, maybe a slider to where you want to edit and press record.
If it were like a plug-in, I could see opening a window with the various channels recorded, and editing manually.
when I get a chance, I will draw up some graphics so people know what Im talking about

i have not used Midi in a long time but this looks like a midi arranger style.
Definitely it does not require a lot of processing or memory.

i see what your sayin.....same concept as when i mix in fruityloops and "SAVE" my project. your basically saving all the "settings" of the mix and every time you bring it up it's right as you left it. so yea, great idea.

The idea here was for making automated mixtapes - not auto performance.
And from the looks of it The Bridge is going to do exactly what I have suggested here.
cool.

Does it make sense to re-invent the wheel again? I think there should be some kind of two way support between SL/SDJ and another app which allows you to edit the automation, because this is what is lacking. TB or Ableton do not offer correct editing of the automation (incl all parameters).
