Vinyl Playback different from home and club

djbizz 2:41 PM - 25 March, 2008
I got a 57sl at home and do regular spins with my own equipment(mixer, tables, amp, speakers) every week at a town bar/club. When I go to the vinyl playback on my own setup and click "estimate" it bangs all the way to the right. Vinyl control is great there. BUT, this weekend I went to new club with their 57SL and techs already setup, and with "estimate" it went all the way to the right, but no sound. Manually I moved it to the left all the way and then I get sound, SUPER SMALL Circles, and poor vinyl control. Does anyone have a reason or fix to this so when I get back to the club next week, it will work flawless? I have a feeling it is feedback? I would be limited in what I can change at the club, but there has to be an answer. BTW, I did get brand new needles... Thanks.

when you press the estimate the needle should be sitting on the record without it spinning.

when testing like this if the slider goes all the way to the right it normally indicates a grounding issue with the turntable.
normally it will sit in the middle somewhere

the small circles could be caused by the phono/line selectors at the back of the mixer being set wrong.

Excellent advice there! I had a feeling that the other DJ may have those selectors different. I know my home setup is correct. I'll try to adjust them this friday to see. Thanks

Yup, I remember that happening to me.
