Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

Does Video-SL make the fans on your Macbook Pro go FULL BLAST?

The one thing that I have been noticing on my Macbook Pro (17", 2.33 dual, 3gb ram, 320 gb HD) is that when running V-SL my fans go all the way up to 6000 rpms. Now I use SMC Fan Control for almost every program. I have specific fan settings for all my power programs. A setting for Visual Hub (which runs my computer very hot), one for Photshop, ect...None of which change the speed of my fans. After 10 minutes of V-SL use my fans are at 6000 while my temp is only at approx 145 degrees (which is hot but not 6000 rpm hot). Nothing I do will override it. When I use a program like Visual Hub which runs my computer much hotter (usually 160-170) it stays at the setting that I chose even though it runs hotter. Hmmm...Any ideas? Is V-SL cranking my fans up so I don't get any studdering from heat?

Fans are hitting hard as well over here. But I think this is the GPU fan, not the CPU fan. If you check the CPU temp also you should see its not that hot (unless you hit 100% CPU, which VSL does not do for me).

Yeah, I don't hit 100% cpu either. I checked around to see if I had traces of any other fan control programs, but found none. I have other programs that get the computer much hotter than 145 degrees. None of them automatically crank my fans up. I use SMC fan control to control the fan settings myself but V-SL seems override it.
