wasn't very successful =(
i used mov with xvid codec and aac at 160
2016 bitrate
size unchanged
using super encoder
all that happened was that ssl and vsl crashed when i tried to import a mov file. total shutdown. tried importing 3 times. same result.
for some odd reason, when i restarted ssl, it still said that a dvd was in my drive (when the dvd was removed YESTERDAY). it's like it remembers that the dvd was in my drive the LAST TIME i tried vsl. it also showed the "all music" and "all videos" list things....but i still had to engage the plug-in.
this was on my dell inspiron 6400
xp home
2.0 core 2 duo
2 gb ram
ati radeon mobility x1300 - no restrictions

i've tried mp4's, mov's, h264, xvid, 2000kbps, 1500kpbs, 720x480, 620x480, low quality, medium quality, etc......its a software problem, not a converting problem. i got a dell too.

Sorry. I just had to. I know. :P

And yeah, that sucks. I hope there's a fix soon.

That's why I'm testing. Besides, I keep my APPLE iPod shuffle on stand by all the time in case of a crash. lol
I'm messing with you guys. I don't believe in God so why would I believe in jinxing? lol

Anyway, I'll back off now. I really was just kidding. I hope a solution is found soon.

Ipod shuffle. can't even see what song is coming on. But good thought. Just have a bunch of songs on stand by with diff bpm ranges and if something happens switch mixer to aux and play the ipod. Come on the mic and theyll never know.

It doesn't matter if I'm playing video or not. The most important thing is SOUND. Second, who cares if you can't see what you're playing. I have a hot mix on the shuffle ready to go. Plus, it's only while I restart and get things going. I've never used it but I figured might as well have it on stand-by just in case. :)

super is crap, it doesn't give you enough control over the video you can't even set the number of keyframes.
Try this
1. Download ffmpeg from here => ffdshow.faireal.net you just need the top one, you'll need 7-zip to open the file, if you don't have 7-zip you can download that here => www.7-zip.org
2. Extract the files from the ffmpeg zip file and put them onto your desktop
3. Download this bat file => www.nobspangle.f2s.com
4. Put the batch file on your desktop in the same folder as the ffmpeg files
Drag and drop a vob file you have ripped from a DVD onto the batch file. A command prompt should open up and start encoding the video. When it's finished you should be left with an mp4 file with the same name as the vob file. Try this mp4 in VSL.
I'll point out that this isn't the best quality but it's a starting point to see if it's your laptop that's the problem or the way you're encoding the videos.

Looks like you'll need to right click the link to the batch file and do Save target or save link to download the file rather than opening it.
