Go to the Mac store and find out the difference. I'm hopping on one of the 2.6 refurbs though.

The Macbook I have now has the Intel GMA 950 with 64mb shared memory and that works fine. Most people with a MBP right now have the 256mb and don't have any problems. I don't know if it would be that much more of a performance boost with SL-V though. Where are the Graphic nerds??

256mb of vram is fine, but if you got the money, might as well get the 512mb. $500 gets you an extra 100mhz of speed, 256mb of video ram and 50gb of hard drive space. it's really not worth it since you can get a brand new dell for $500, but if you got the extra cash doing nothing, then go for it.

Waiting for an iMac to drop.
Or for apple to make a desktop without a monitor but half the price or less of a mac pro. They could sweep the market if they sold $900 desktop towers without a built in screen.

I could not run the 2-week-old MacBook (2.0gHz) with Video-SL at a buffer of "2", had to raise it to 5 or higher to avoid USB dropouts.
The new 2.4gHz Penryn MacBook I got today in exchange for the 2-week-old model does seem to play videos reliably with the buffer on 2.
Nice of Apple to put out the new models exactly 14 days after I first bought the new MacBook (last day of the return period). They were waiving restocking fees as well.

seriously swift, why do you need all them damn computers??i only need two dub., a gig computer and a backup.
the dell laptops, i bought them when i didnt know that pcs sucked for doing this stuff. so i have them, not much i can do about that. i paid over $1000 for each of them (1 was $1700, 1 was around $1200, one i got free) so i'm not selling them since you can buy new ones that are faster for $500 or less. i'm not selling them for a couple hundred bucks.
but seriously, i only need two gig computers.

I must say im a little upset considering I bought a brand new 2.33ghz MBP last month, but I only paid $1,750 for it. But im not really missing out since the base model is 2.4ghz and only has 50gb more space for the hd. The video card is the same 256. I don't think I would have bought the $2,500 model, that's just too much for me, I felt sick paying the $2,000 for mine (after taxes)

i know the feeling dub, just go grind and get those video gigs. charge more and don't look back.

I'm thinking of selling my Macbook Pro (17", 2.33 dual) to get the new one, but it works SO WELL with video. The ATI graphics cards never have let me down. I can run it in OS X or Winblows XP with no problems. Plus I upgraded the ram to 3 gb and the hardrive to 320 gb (internal). hmmm...Might be a good deal for someone looking to get a great computer for cheap.
Steve Dub.
10:34 PM 27 February 2008
See mine runs great as long as I have the quality in the middle, it even works at 75% but when I put quality all the way up I start to get stutters. I would love to be able to rock that all the way up, but then im thinking last month the fastest ones were only 2.4ghz, when they made this program did they really make it so you can go all the way up on quality?? Is anyone doing that? and if so how fast is your computer??
Steve Dub.
10:35 PM 27 February 2008
Also im only doing videos on wednesdays at my resident spot and im not charging anymore since it was basically my idea to start doing videos for my own enjoyment so I haven't "officially" booked a video gig yet and my MBP runs regular serato perfectly.

I don't get it...if what you have works so perfectly, what would be the reason to sell it?Well I would bet that the new ones run a little BETTER, thats why. I do alot more than DJ with my computer. Graphics, Video Editing, Flash, ect... More power is always better when using 'power' applications. I didn't say perfectly, I said SO WELL. I've been doing video for 8 months, 3 days a week with it and have had very minimal problems but I'm an electronics horror (is that how you spell that?) so I would love to blow another $3,500 on a new computer. Damn Apple, always draining my pockets.

I need every new piece of electronics the day it comes out. I mean I'm typing this on my wireless keyboard viewing it on my 80" projector watching TV on my 50" plasma in my bedroom. A new Macbook Pro is just to tempting for me.

More power is always better when using 'power' applications.Maybe you need a Mac Pro for home use then. That would give you way more CPU horsepower than you can get with any MacBook Pro.

little dissapointed on the processors... i was hoping for a bigger one to drop, but instead they just have the 2.5 and 2.6 question is, is the extra .1ghz worth the $250?
D-Twizzle

... and sse4 instruction set. serato could optimize their code to run better thru sse4 and will have better performance

So is there more of a difference between the 2.5 and the 2.6 than just the ghz, is the 2.6 the sse4? bigger l2 cache? i didnt see it specified on there, and havent really dug around on it yet.

The 2.4GHz has 3MB L2 cache the 2.5 and the 2.6 have 6MB all the new processors will support SSE4.

the 2.6 has a 512mb graphics card, a larger cache, and the sse4 support. Once again, those are the differences.
