Dual Monitor in another room?

I'm considering buying SSL but don't want to fork out for a laptop as I just bought a desktop PC.
My decks are in the room adjacent to desktop (5M max) and I was thinking of using a 2nd monitor and a wireless mouse with my decks hooked up to my PC with extn leads ect.
Has anyond done this? Would it be a viable option, or should I just buy a laptop?

Your going to have to run RCA cables to your PC. At the club we have all our computers in our amp room about 30 feet away. We have A KVM extender that works over Cat 5. There is a sending module that connects to the USB of the computer & the monitor out. From there we have a cat 5 cable run to the DJ Booth. The recieve end in the booth has two USB plugs (1 keyboard, 1 mouse) and a monitor plug. Works great... That may be an option as well.

The KVM Extender could be a good option, I'll do some research and find out more as I don't know much about this... Thanks Robinson.

My home setup is just an LCD on the wall with a wireless mouse... its run from my laptop a distance away. So yeah its definitely possible and I would recommend it, but just make sure your wireless mouse works the distance as mentioned above.

I considered doing this when I got my Serato, but I didn't have the wireless mouse and keyboard, so I decided to spend £100 on a new PC. That way I have a clean build of Windows dedicated to running Serato, and I've got no worries about batteries running out or noise picked up on long cable runs.

This sounds good then, I checked my mouse last nite & it works thru the wall fine!
So, by looking at the diagram I would just need a long usb cable. Is this correct?
Cheers.

The maximum recommended cable length between a USB computer and USB interface is 5 meters (16.5 feet).

I'd say you could run in to problems using a long USB cable, you might be better using long RCA cables, just make sure they are good quality to stop them picking up noise.
