Install Failed

I keep getting an error message when trying to install the Video-SL plugin. I have the boxed version and am using a Macbook Pro (2.33 ghz dual, 17", 3 gb ram, 320 gb HD installed). At 1st I tried to install via the packaged CD and got this message:

INSTALL FAILED. The following install step failed: run postflight script for Video-SL. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

After a few attempts I tried to download via the download section on the net. Began the installation and got to the same point with the same error.

I than tried to erase SSL completely and re-install everything. Got the same message...

Anyone got any ideas on what I should try/do next?

install ssl 1.8 and then use the video-sl for mac that is plugin only, not the vsl full package.

This really shouldn't be happening on the install DVD but has been reported with the downloadable installer. We have fixed this issue for new installers but as a-swift suggests you should be able to install SSL 1.8 followed by the Video-SL only installer and it will work.

Thanks. I completely erased 1.8 from my system, re-downloaded & installed 1.8, then installed the plugin only. Works fine now. Thanks for the help!

FYI...It's not fixed on the DVD. Additionally...the boxes for typing in the auth code don't seem to recognize the digit "1"...which obviously works, since I just typed it. I DL'ed 1.8 from the site and used the DVD for the install of Video-SL.

MacBook Pro
2.5Ghz, 4GB RAM
Fresh outta the box.

8,9 & 0 didn't work either...but the good news, I discovered that I was looking at an "I" rather than a "1". Despite the error message, the install seems to have succeeded and the program is working with the demo videos.

Very disconcerting, that error message.

Hi,
Yeah we use something called Base32 for the serial numbers which means that all letters and 2-7 are used. The reason being that 0/O I/1 can be confused so we don't use the number versions ;-)
