You Playing Songs Longer Now?

a-swift 8:41 PM - 11 February, 2008
For some reason I find myself letting songs play a little longer when rocking video. Anyone else?

the visual put u in a trance, try not to look at the monitors just spin like it is audio only......LOOK INTO THE LIGHT, ZAP. just like a bug zapper lol

i play my advance video edits almost to the end. these are videos where i've chopped in 10-20 other videos or movie scenes to make the video mashup/party break complete. i'm not going to mix out early so nobody can see all that hard work i put in, hahaha.

wish i could answer this question
cmcknite 9:46 PM - 11 February, 2008
Yes..... Now I need to get good at editing like Twizzle...
tomatoslice 10:53 PM - 11 February, 2008
yes...BUT the reason i have played songs longer is because i have not spent much time using vsl or setting cue points. plus i don't have shortcuts made for video.
however, the tracks that i do have set up i am mixing faster. something about adding visual to the mix just makes it easier. also 2 songs that ordinarily i would never play together i'll do with video.

i'm with twizzle on this one. i spend two hours doing a video edit, u damn right people are gonna see it. not mixing out after 1st verse.

I'm a video virgin, just getting started but I assume I will be playing tracks longer because like swifter said you put the time in. Also I don't watch videos or MTV 2 often so I might want to watch the video cause I haven't seen it.

yeah Twizzle has a point what gets me confused now sometimes is switching betweens groups. group one vinyl control group 6 echo effects group 5 video control man i be hitting switches for real, sometime i forget what group i;m in and hitting thr fader switch for the video control. crazy.
DJ_X_Trodinaire 5:17 AM - 12 February, 2008

i hate switching between groups. i stay in group 1 all day long.
eye357 6:28 AM - 12 February, 2008
i can't help it i like showing off the fader effects and i don't like messing with the laptopbecause through the 57 is faster just can't forget what group i'm in
tomatoslice 6:42 AM - 12 February, 2008
this is why EVERY key/effect/knob on the 57 and the software should be midi-assignable.

I think you get a bigger value of the song with video, if it's a good video that is. I think alot about short attention span, mostly 'cause I already know exactly what every song I play sounds like so I like to surprise by switching to the remix or keeping the acapella but change the instrumental or vice versa. But with video, I think you grab the attention longer than audio only. Plus, alot of videos have a visual story.

Ordered my TTM57SL today and have a feeling these three weeks will feel longer than the six months I've been saving up.

I feel you, but it sucks us hamster cats have to go into group 5 for it to pick up...i always forget to go back to group 1 and it get #*$(#*(ed in the beginning of my gigs

I share the pain eder .. fortunatly Ive always been a drag and dropper along with needle drop sooooooooo .. I just leave it in group 5.

i hope serato lets to put effects to the beats of the music like they do with lights. when the bass hits the lights flash etc... imagine with the efffect for the videos. hot. that way i realaly don't have to mess with the groups it's on it's own.

Im mos def playing songs longer when im spinning videos, for a few reasons, im still learning the videos since some of them are different than the actual songs I have, I also don't have as many videos as I do songs so I don't wanna run out half way through my set, and to me it looks better when I mix out of an extended part rather than a part where there still singing.

i was thinking the same thing while i was spinning a B2K video. (no homo)

i've been flying through videos just like audio. now that i got my videos formated right i can juggle and flip shit quick. i'm getting to a point where i can do routines just like i do with audio tracks, but i paly alot of funk/disco/oldschool. video or not most people (where i'm at) don't want to hear those songs all the way out. my top 40 hiphop crowd loves me playing videos quick aswell (cause we've all heard these songs way to eefin much)
