anyone compared the difffernce in video quality from SSL when compared to original uncompressed dvds played with regular players?

H.264 compression is very good. Barely indistinguishable from the source DVD. This has nothing to do with VSL though. You can check the quality differences with Quicktime player vs the DVD

Just realize that the image on your computer screen and that same image on a tv monitor or a projector will look different. your computer screen will look better Don't let this fool you.

i think videos look better on the tv. less detail on a tv. too much detail on computer screen and you can easily see all the compression at work.

best part though as club djs most people will be slightly under the influence. trust me they won't notice a thing. hell they think it's a mixed dvd and not the dj making the effects. lol

i think people generally forget this fact when they talk about video quality. these videos are not being watched in a living room where you are literally 5 feet from the screen. take a look at the plasmas in your club, how close are people to them typically? i'll bet not many people spend a lot of time 5 feet from any screens. the further away from the screen you get, the less detail you'll see. my videos look fine in the club.

the biggest video spot i did was Fox Sports Grill in Irvine, Ca. I did music videos there on Friday nights for like 2 years. Kagen also did videos there after I stopped. The promoter just stopped in Dec altogether. there are like 50 plasmas and big screens there, and most of them are like 20 feet in the air.

Thanks for your responce - im still not clear on video quality
I just got a TTM-57SL but it arrived damaged with something loose
on the inside so waiting to get a replacement - i can try it out
with video and see the comparison from playing on a dvj vs serato
with video quality / hotstarts / loops etc...

you don't need a 57 or serato to check the video quality, you can do this with the quicktime player
