Bug? Or just Something to be changed for later! Filename ghosting on fullscreen output

Freedom 12:34 AM 4 February 2008
I have just been able to get a few sets under my belt at some gigs. probally about 10 so far.
In that time I have recorded some of my sets.

Going over and watching a few sets I have found a bug or just a problem not for live performance but for recorded performance.

When Scrolling through tracks and picking a track with a Long name in SSL library window. I can see on the recorded output screen a black box outlined when I drag a track to a deck.
Its very quick and I didnt notice it until it happened about 10 times in a 1 hr and 30 min video.

I have footage of it and will upload a clip later.
Do i upload to same file place?
link would be nice thanks.

But to summarize problem.
Draggin long filename tracks I guess. or tracks period to right deck causes a small ghosting of filename box to appear on fullscreen .
Realize that I use the ttm57 scroll track feature alot and probally when using the trackpad this occured.
It causes no problems for the performance, just for the final recording as in if doing commercial work final fullscreen output would have various ghosting of filename boxes.

Hope that helps.
Will report more later. thanks.,

Yes, please do upload (www.scratchlive.net). Sounds very strange...

I uploaded the file ....

It happens at 0 seconds and milleseconds u will see the filenmae ghosting appearing on the fullscreen.

I will upload more clips as I fidn them in my recordings.

Thanks.

Very interesting. Thanks for the clip and I'll let you know how we go on replicating and fixing this bug :-)
Freedom 5:48 AM 4 February 2008
I have found it alot more throughout the sets. I will get more detail on the next time I record.
And i will upload a few more clips soon.

Too bee more clear its not the filename ghosting its the box which would contain the filename.

As in U drag the filename to right deck but filename with info tags is really long.
Well the way my monitor is setup I can drag the mouse to the right.
So I could drag the tracks to the right and see them but when fullscreen is engaged it hides the filename behind fullscreen and shows outline for filename.

I think a fix for this would be me seperating my two monitors to not allow drag from screen to screen.
But basically its just the long filename going over to the right screen which is fullscreen,

No I feel you...It sucks to scroll too far to the right and have your mouse go on the output screen
DJ Grandpa 9:27 PM 4 February 2008
Devteam... Please hide the mousecursor if it's outside the mainscreen.

if(mouse.X > screen1.width)
Cursor = none
else
Cursor = default

:-)

Nice to know its easy fix :)

I just put the monitor on the left side scroll to mediate my right handed scrolling into right fullscreen easier.

So far its an quick qorkaround.

but this isnt just the mouse cursor its what ever the mouse cursor is holding but i bet it would fix both things. when u hide it.

thanks for help

Ive uploaded another clip to show better. for your ssl team.

Dont worry about split video on screen. it was wierd but didnt do anything.

Just notice the filename ghosting outline on fullscreen on left handside of screen.
Thanks sorry for bringing it back up i just had to upload a better video thanks.

here is a little clip for any one looking at what im talking bout.

Getting rid of the cursor will be easy as DJ Grandpa said.

What you are seeing is ghosting from the drag'n'drop indication, and while we're looking at ways of getting rid of that unfortunately it is always drawn on top of everything (like the mouse pointer is). And turning off the mouse pointer while it is inside the output window won't get rid of it showing up while in other applications... But we'll figure it out ;-)

PS: Thanks for the clip, it makes our jobs a lot easier!

No problem for the clip if it helps you guys it helps me.

Yea I figured it wouldn't be the same as just turning off the mouse cursosr.

But like I said I worked around it by justi using Ttm57 track load more often.
And changing the monitor Arrangement in system prefs.
Putting it to the left instead of right. Seemed to help.
I will check out my gig recording when its on the left.

Thanks again for a great support team serato.

Oh one question Is the minimum spec requirments for video-sl sl- video
Able to handle the full qaulity output in video prefs.
It seems when I go past the Middle in output with my macbook pro The output is fine but the Main ssl screen goes haywire. All blocky.
Then I cant fix it by turning back to middle. I have to restart computer to get blocks to go away.

Just wondering. Maybe I will make a vid .

Peace out

Umm.. haven't seen that before and it must be a nasty bug. By 'main SSL screen' do you mean the Video-SL panel or the entire ScratchLIVE GUI?

Depending on what you are outputing too there is no reason to go above the 2nd highest setting (the top one is essentially 1080p). Any MBP should be fine all the way up to the highest setting (it just won't run that great).
Freedom 8:51 PM 7 February 2008
main ssl screen = Scratch live GUI

& finder GUI

Creates about 2 in white blocks all over the screen when I raise output past middle setting. which it is always at.

Then I have a mouse pointer which is a block and I have to guess where to click on quit. then if it quits my mouse is still a block in the finder and i have to restart to get rid of video prob.

Ill make a video tonight if I get back from gig early.

Aloha and Thanks again

Got a couple vids upload for that full output bug
Nathan H 8:53 PM 11 February 2008
Thanks, I've had a look at them and is seems that the video driver is going haywire when video memory is being exhausted. Which MBP are you on and what version of OS X?

I have the Core 2 Duo 2.16 on 10.4.11 and I can't replicate it so it is likely to be either a specific driver or model. We have a range of them floating around and if you let me know which you have I'll try replicating it on the same one.
