Since y'all are looking to do video, you might want to know the basics on the shit works. It's not as easy as you think.

i think the major key to this and its going to be hard for all of us is to #1 "NOT" look at your screens while your mixing songs and #2 "NOT" look at the 3 screen display. Treat video mixing just like you would a normal normal gig with normal songs and MP3s or CDs. Use the waveforms like you would at any other gig. That's the beautiful thing about Serato... you can load a video and then once your loaded just click the video button but your display output still works. I am not doing that however its still an option DJs can use to discipline themselves.

So is video, much more than audio. I see so many people posting on how to this and that because they just don't know the fundamentals on either proper video signal flow or how intensive video editing is.
Or they think this is going to be a breeze.

I give Team Serato props for doing this, but they are putting tools in the hands of the 'mildly inept' and it's causing the end user to be frustrated and then thinking the gear is crap or comparing it to crap gear.

This isn't just 'ripping' your DVD and away you go like with music, so it shouldn't be treated that way. Or running down to Radio Shack and getting parts to make it look or work better. This is a complete different way of thinking.

Even after understanding some of how video works, now you have to think of how you are you going to treat content and it layout.

I have done VJ work for over 10 years (www.vutag.com) and what I have learned is things are great until you put 'talking heads' on the screen, then everyone just stops and looks. It ain't cool, ask Cold Cut.

So I just thought I'd help out a bit, like others around here.

Most of the people on here are familiar with audio not video so it will be a struggle to get past the first phases. I feel you on people just standing around looking at the video. That was a worry of mine myself but I think if you play the right stuff people cant help but to dance. The vids are for the people holding up the wall or taking a break from dancing.

I have lost a couple of hours of sleep but is pay off...thanks everyone for all the support.

those video editing programs are alot like the audio programs

You can even do some basic video editing in some of these audio apps.
