File transfer software

Hi there - my current set up is thus:

I use my desktop PC to record all my vinyl, then I process it (normalise, tag, BPM) and store it one of many genre labelled folders or sub folders on my hard disk. I then transfer the contents of each folder to my powerbook, using exactly the same folder structure, and then copy the contents of each folder to SSL, again using the folder names as the name of each crate.

So my problem is this: every time I click and drag a folder over to be copied to the Mac, it asks if I want to replace the folder, which replaces all the files amd takes a really long time and gets rid of any overviews built). I can also go into each folder individually, highlight all the files and drag them over (but this is a pain because I have to click No when it asks if I want to overwrite any existing files), or I can sort by date modified and click and drag only the new ones over; both these solutions are still very time consuming, as I've got 20 folders to go through at the moment, with more porbably to come as I rip loads more vinyl...

So my question is this:

Is there any file software that would scan all folders and sub folders on both my Mac and PC and transfer any new files across? Or is there anything that would make this painful scenario easier to manage?

Also is there any way I could get SSL to scan a root directory, then update the crates automatically, using the subfolders as crate names?

I've just had a thought - is there anyway that I could use iTunes to do all this? If so, how, because that program confuses the crap out of me...

Thanks in advance

about the second question, it has been suggested many times before, but nowadays SSL has no "linked crates" or something similar.

iTunes smart playlists can help you though, use iTunes help to learn more about smart playlists. i use smart playlists a lot because it save me a lot of time.

It seems like you should manage your collection as follows:

Have a separate folder structure for songs that have been ripped but not transfered. Once the songs have been copied from the "NEW RIPS" directory to the MAC, the songs are then removed from the "NEW RIPS" directory and placed in the main PC directory.
