Too bad that doesnt exist because I have been using cool edit on my pc for 4 years now and i pretty much have it mastered, but now that I own a powerbook, im looking to start doing my mixtapes on my mac, anyone have any suggestions besides pro tools on a program that has multi tracks (cool edit has 128 tracks) and lets you cut and paste just like cool edit?

Logic Express 7.....Cubase....Bias Deck 3.5.....
I personally use Cubase...I'm a former Cool Edit/Adobe Audition user....it was my favorite program for mastering, multitracking & single editing.....
I use Cubase to multi-track...and Peak to Edit...

So is that saying Cubase doesnt allow you to edit (cut & paste) or what is the reason you use peak to edit? Yeah I agree with you Tek, its just that I think the sound quality would be better using my mac as opposed to using my pc, I dont have any special sound card or anything.

you could even use garageband. the version of peak i have only lets you do 1 track (2 channels) at a time.

thanks hype ill peep that. Yeah I noticed garageband on my mac when I got it but I figured if it came with the computer that it was useless and I deleted it.

Cubase lets you cut & paste, but for getting really intricate edits (like, say, removing transient pops, zooming in to the sample level on waveforms or chopping phrases up into individual hits) Peak is a little easier to deal with. Like 3pm mentioned though, it is strictly a mono/stereo editor, so if multi-tracking is your primary concern, Cubase, Logic, Deck or Garage Band (for those on a tight budget) is the way to go.

I used to use cooledit/Adobe audition also. Since I moved to MAC, the only program that was easiest for me to transition to was Digital performer 4.6.
DP 4.6 is worth checking out. This multi-track recording suite is very good.
