Chopped audio no video with Video Screenshot of problems

DjSylert 12:02 AM - 6 January, 2008
Ok so, i finally purchased my ttm57-sl and was all excited since i have been building up my video collection for the last month. well i connected my mixer got everything up and running messed around with the midi for a little bit then decided its time for some video! i put a few videos in to a crate and tried and nothing happened. The videos are showing up as files just like mp3's do and they have the video logo next to them so they are being read correctly. When i try to play the file, everything runs as if its working but theres just a straight line where the audio is supposed to be and there is NO video playing what-so-ever. Ive tried every kind of file imaginable that is supposed to work..i.e. .avi, .mpg, .mpeg and im not getting anything? my comp specs are as follows:

intel core 2 cpu
6400@2.13ghz
2.77ghz, 3gb ram
windows xp service pack 2

I finally got one track to work...but its just audio and its all chopped up...check out the links below i put videos so you see what i mean...

first video is the one that has some audio working and all chopped up

Watchwww.youtube.com

video specs are as follows.
width:640 pixels
height 480 pixels
bit rate 128kbps
audio lame mp3
fram: 29fps
data rate 269kbps
sample rate: 24 bit
compression: xvid

Second video i get nothing at all...no sound or video...

Watchwww.youtube.com

specs are as follows
width 640
height 272
bit rate 200kbps
audio lame mp3
frame rate 23fps
data rate 277kbps
video sample size 24 bit
video compression xvid

I know it may be something stupid, but why does one work with the lame mp3 format and not the other? and maybe the video doesnt work because those two are xvid, but im stuck and help is appreciated!

Looks like those are xvid files. Do you have the xvid codec for quicktime? Can you play those same files in quicktime? You should try h.264/mp4 videos, I'm sure those will work for you.
Dj onyx 2:45 AM - 6 January, 2008
I like the first one, continous transformer. LOL.
DjSylert 11:20 AM - 6 January, 2008
haha yeah im such a good "VJ" i dont even need to do anything! I do not have the xvid codec...what is h.264? should i just convert these files to mp4? i have all the programs available to encode the files, its just becoming a real disaster i just want ONE to work so i can have a little hope
DjSylert 11:34 AM - 6 January, 2008
ok so i converted to mp4, and now the songs working ok, but no video still...ideas?
DJ Grandpa 12:09 PM - 6 January, 2008

Try this converter www.imtoo.com I use it but changes videosize to (NTSC 720x480, PAL 720x576) and bitrate to (min 2500, max 3500) and audio to: (bitrate 224, sample rate 48000)

also this clip: smashvidz.info

Serato mention that this is a bug for pc and they are working on it. Realease date is comming up and till now no update on the beta. I'm sure if I'll get this plug in or not. I don't wanna shell out some $$$ with such a problem f*** that.
DjSylert 1:18 AM - 7 January, 2008
ive used imtoo to convert as well as vegas winavi nevo ripper, ive tried so many things and nothings working...it could just be the bug thing but if its not a bug its just a harsh waiting game....its a very frustrating situation
DjSylert 1:22 AM - 7 January, 2008
I tried the video clip from smash vidz and i got the white screen again with audio running smoothly....it plays fine in my quicktime player...
D-Twizzle 1:30 AM - 7 January, 2008
what video card are you running?
DjSylert 9:55 AM - 7 January, 2008
intel g965? does that make sense? thats the "chipset" in my dell xps or maybe gma 3000? either way i just ordered my new laptop with the following specs:

vista < will be replaced with xp
4GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M G
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7700 (2.4GHz/800MHzFSB, 4M L2 Cache
200G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive Free Fall Sensor

do you think this setup should be able to work correctly?
DJ Grandpa 11:33 AM - 7 January, 2008
Well I have the same G965 in my Acer, and that don't work, just a "white box" showing instead of the video. But that maight be a bug said Serato, wait to next beta version (or the release) to see if that is fixed.

The other "Vista" with GeForce 8600M, will work just fine, I belive.
DjSylert 6:46 PM - 7 January, 2008
i believe twizzle and a few others who have the program running ok are using that geforce 8600 so hopefully this will work for me...its just sad i had to get a new laptop because mine "may not work" i love djing and all but its my job so no dj=no money. i hate bugs, cant i just spray some raid on my computer and fix the problem?
eye357 8:35 PM - 11 January, 2008
yeah everyone working has a good graphics card the geforce8600M and alot of people with the intel chipset got white screens as I do. :(
DJ Supar 6:49 AM - 12 January, 2008
i have the same problem, like you guys! ONLY white screen!

Core 2 Duo 2,2 GHZ
2 GB RAM
250 GB
GeForce 8600

i hope this bug will be cleared the next days

We're onto the white screen bug guys, stay tuned
eye357 1:53 PM - 12 January, 2008
Hey dj super u are the first person with the right specs that has white screens. usually if u have the navidia 8600 card video sl should work. everyone i've seen so far had an intel chip with white screens. yeah it's gotta be a bug now we have to wait for serato to fix the bug with an update. I just hope it's before the release of VSL.
DjSylert 7:12 PM - 13 January, 2008
well they got a few days so they better hurry up! yeah i havent seen anyone with the 8600 have a problem...great, i just ordered a new laptop with the 86 knowing my luck it wont work either
Dj onyx 8:18 PM - 13 January, 2008
I just don't get it. Why spend more money on the hardware while it can be fixed on the software. Since it's been known as a bug on their side not the PC.

If others have the same card and it is working it is likely that updating your drivers will solve the problem. nVidia drivers can be found here: www.nvidia.com
eye357 1:47 AM - 14 January, 2008
how about intel driverss
Serato
Nathan H 2:00 AM - 14 January, 2008
downloadcenter.intel.com and select 'Graphics' on the left. Although updating the drivers is unlikely to get rid of whitescreens if that is what you are hoping, it just sounded like the nVidia ones might work
eye357 5:53 AM - 14 January, 2008
yeah i downloaded the update for my intel through the graphics section u stated Nathan thanks, but as u said it didn't worked but my laptop did need the update. i hope the serato crew provides that update soon......
DjSylert 3:26 AM - 15 January, 2008
yeah i updatedd my intel shipset as well, but nothing...my new laptops coming soon...lets hope this works!!!GeForce all the way!
