Twitter Feed

DJ'Que 8:40 AM - 25 April, 2012
I'm digging this now. hmmmm ok serato this is a needed feature beside what I said. Add this.
phatbob 10:51 AM - 25 April, 2012
Yo, respect for your honesty, dude.

I think it's one of those features that makes ZERO sense until it suddenly makes ABSOLUTE sense, ya know?

Still clearly not for every crowd and situation, but so cool when it's right.

They should definitely try and get something like it into SV.
DJ'Que 4:32 PM - 25 April, 2012
Yeah I was playing with my homies 57 last night and I had ME Demo and was like let me get into this twitter feed thingy.

So I Downloaded the 4gb file and got busy.

I have twitter app on my phone and got every tweet that was going on the screen and phone and was able to delete the bad one's.

I also like said b4 Love the way you can move the preview screens & that media bank.
djpuma_gemini 4:41 PM - 25 April, 2012
I used it last weekend. It's a cool feature, but only left it on for a minute or two and that was before anyone was dancing.
Cool way to get the crowd involved during the opening set.
PopRoXxX 4:43 PM - 25 April, 2012
Twitter Feed FTW!! Nothing touches ME as of right now and probably for a LONG while :)
popnwave 8:08 PM - 25 April, 2012
I am super stoked to run it again this week. It's fun and the idiots haven't abused it... yet.
djdaddydog 8:54 PM - 25 April, 2012
lucky for you guys, i got 2 FU tweets already within 6 timess of using it. Well, they were saying F the club, but i take it personally. but i'm in nyc so maybe that explains it
djpuma_gemini 9:04 PM - 25 April, 2012
now that I know who's using it. I'm gonna tweet all you fuckers at midnight asking for some rick astley
Joshua Carl 10:23 PM - 25 April, 2012
we all do that shit to eachother already!
its actually pretty fun, and entertaining...

I keep telling girls to meet Eloy in the Bathroom for a Blumpkin.
and of course "no breasts: no requests"

you can block the badones (just block the user)
D-Twizzle 10:57 PM - 25 April, 2012
You don't use a login when using the twitter feed, so how are you quickly blocking people specific people? If someone writes "this dj sucks #clubxxx" then you go to the web interface with your account login and block them, it still shows up since it uses a general account and not your personal account, right?
phatbob 10:59 PM - 25 April, 2012
You can use an @ reply to a specific account instead of a hashtag. Then you can block people.
Joshua Carl 11:28 PM - 25 April, 2012
^^^
that

no nintendo
popnwave 3:20 AM - 26 April, 2012
The thing is, it's using the search.twitter.com feed. So even if you block the account who sent it, it's not YOUR timeline it's looking at, it's the maint twitter feed. So while it won't display on your homepage it still turns up in mentions.
popnwave 3:21 AM - 26 April, 2012
So yes I just said the same stuff and agreed with puma.
D-Twizzle 4:31 AM - 26 April, 2012
so the bad tweet still shows up then, right?
Joshua Carl 5:54 AM - 26 April, 2012
I don't know ive had instances of dudes just saying dirty stuff, not funny, classless shit. The gm went into onto the page (which he is the admin) and he blocked them, and that post never came up again... While other repeated randomly.

Yeah it doesn't go away from the current QTZ we are all using.... now if the QTZ was able to log in with your credentials and pull YOUR specific feed, it wouldn't be an issue. As of now if someone @mentions you or craps on your #hashtag it's going to show up. The only suggestion I would have is trying to lower (speed up) your times between polls so it drops off, then you can reenable the feed and it won't show.

This is what I am playing around with tonight. I am dropping the "withinHours" parameter to .25 in the hope this only pulls the last 15 minutes of tweets. I've also dropped the refresh rates on the XML and posts (which I hope is the tweets) to every 10 seconds.
Joshua Carl 10:44 PM - 26 April, 2012
right...
but if you dony use a #

I dont.
example I put up: Tweet to @ThisBar
the guy who owns @thisbar is right there, he is the GM.
he goes on his phone, finds the "@ThisBar can lick my nutz" author
then blocks them.

I suppose if u dont have the person who runs the twitter page your screwed.

I know if I do @Joshua_Carl
and someone writes some wild shit, I can block them.

that # market is fairgame though.
popnwave 10:44 PM - 26 April, 2012
Also, if the person sending shout outs, requests, etc is protected, those won't show on the feed either.

Yeah I created a second Twitter account to do @mentions rather than #hashtag because I thought you would be able to block them. But go to search.twitter.com and you will see everything that will pull in the QTZ. It has no way to know you banned a guy, because it doesn't know you blocked his tweet since it can't log in to your account.

It is going to show anything publicly using your @ ..

You could block me and even after I could still say @Joshual_Carl like beeeeeg wang and search.twitter.com is still going to show it.

I think the quirks in the XML/Refresh is where certain tweets are going poof. Not any sort of ban.
Joshua Carl 10:49 PM - 26 April, 2012
thats wierd, becuase like i mentioned we had 2 instances and they both went away...
maybe he flagged em or something too.
D-Twizzle 10:52 PM - 26 April, 2012
check your twitter jc, i'm testing something now
popnwave 10:54 PM - 26 April, 2012
Cross platform trouble shooting.. Love it.
Joshua Carl 11:01 PM - 26 April, 2012
i did, your off.... but still show up on the search.
but not on my page....

maybe it was pure cooincidence that the owner blocked those people and the tweets never showed up in the feed...Im going to fire up ME and run the feed... see what pops up
D-Twizzle 11:04 PM - 26 April, 2012
yeah, was going to ask you to see if it shows up on ME too. my tweets are public/unprotected
Joshua Carl 11:08 PM - 26 April, 2012
yup... well i stand corrected.

I guess it wass just a mass influx of tweets that must have coincidently pushed those
tweets aside.
but the mgr did come over and tell me they were blocked now... and we never saw them again.
that night.

I cant imagine he marked them as spam....
granted, why not.
D-Twizzle 11:11 PM - 26 April, 2012
I have a modified version of the twitter feed I'm using where you can input banned words like "sucks, sux, wack" etc haha. It works good so far. I got it from dj action so hit him up if you want it. i'm not sure if he wants it publicly posted or not.
popnwave 11:21 PM - 26 April, 2012
I think if someone did it based on the twitter API it would be cake. Waaaay above my understanding though. I think anyone who is a major XML/RSS nerd or has lots of web building knowledge could figure it out pronto.
djpuma_gemini 11:38 PM - 26 April, 2012
Yeah I have mine with @vdjpuma and it blocks keywords, but I can also open up twitter on my phone and block users if they post dumb shit.
D-Twizzle 11:40 PM - 26 April, 2012
i think we just established blocking people doesn't work.
djpuma_gemini 11:55 PM - 26 April, 2012
aaah, didn't see that.
Dj Nyce 12:59 AM - 27 April, 2012
you can't do an http get in quartz composer which is required for the twitter api.

what you could do is setup a webpage, run the api and store the xml there. then point the qtz to that xml instead of search.twitter.com
