I hope they do bring out an alternative. Personally I dont see the point of spending a grand on mixer that only has 2 channels when you can get a pioneer DJM 800 for a similar price. Or a Pioneer DVJ... All you need to be able to do is use the MIDI from another mixer to emulate the TTM 57SL and hey presto, you've got all the functions of the TTM 57SL with 4 channels. And Video SL. But a loss in the sales of Rane's product I guess.

Also it would be awesome if they allowed Virtual decks on SSL allowing a video track to play whilst having control of 2 audio decks to lay over it. That would be the future.

Not much to explain, hook it up and either run the SL1 ASIO drivers or the built-in SL1 drivers VDJ made. It's been this way for about a year now.

I think it´s not fair from serato development to not develop a solution to also realize video mixing with the SSL1 interface and a TTM56. Because all the users who bought the TTM56 and the SSL1 where the crowd who spent the money and supported the further development for further equipment (like TTM57SL). I really hope that Serato will find a way that video mixing is also supported with SSL1.

Will video actually play at all without the 57sl? I have just got a video playing audio on the demo but there is no output on the demo screen - I thought i might get an image playing forward or back, but just have no fader control. I just want to see if my laptop is up to it..

once i connected my sl box with the scratch version of virtuel dj and it worked. so why do i have to buy an 1.300 bucks expensive rane mixer to use videoscratching?

Can you imagine that? Paying $1300 for a mixer then spending another $200 for the plugin. Ain't that some shit.

I'll tell you why some people are going to spend that money. It's called stability. <that's why.

i have RANE's EMPATH mixer and love its 3rd channel. how can i get the Video SSL working for me without selling off this beautiful mixer which GrandMaster Flash helped design for us!

Easy.... keep it and buy another beautiful mixer called the TTM-57

1. Go buy Virtual Dj.
2. Wait until winter namm 08.
3. buy the pioneer dvj 1000.
4. Buy or Demo video on the TTM 57SL and you will understandwhy its required.
5. Charge more for your DJ gigs and buy all of the stuff you need/want?

There is also the option that video is not going to live up to the hype that people are trying to build it up to be.
