multitrack recording question

alot of people are asking for multitrack recording on the 57...

what is it?
what are the benefits of this over the recording already available?
is it possible that the 57 could have it in the near future?

What people want to be able to do is to record the two channels, post fader, at the same time. That way you can record a set and then go back over it and clean up any mistakes maybe add some effects and then bounce it down to a final mix.
Currently it is possible to do this, but only using normal vinyl, not whilst SSL is running.
