In the hardware section of setup in version 1.8 what are the two places for save effect for? Thanks in advance. Peace.

Effect 1 > Save to mixer

Effect 2 > Save to mixer

Means how ever you have your effect parameter (settings) set, when you press "save to mixer," it will do just that. Save the setting to the hardware in the mixer.

When you go to use the TTM-57 as a stand alone mixer (w/o SSL) and use the effects, they will be applied to the vinyl / CD source your currently playing just the way you had set them while using SSL

Think of it as like you're programing the mixer's settings.
