Anybody here use GoPros? I wanna replace my old firewire cam and have a better pic when I do pip with ME.
I'd like to know how they look in clubs/dark environment.
Which model do you recommend, is the HD Hero 960 good enough?

I just bought one this week. I'm going to use it for a tough mudder event but i'm interested in using it to record a set. I need to figure out how to get the audio and video synced up.
I've tested it and the quality is great.

The real question though is about low light though. That's where the $$$$ cameras still hold the world by the balls.

Thx for the news E.
According to Crime, the GoPro is not good enough for clubs, for outdoors it kicks ass, I wish they update it with a indoor version.
Meanwhile this video was shot with a GoPro Hero2, have a look www.carivibez.tv

You can have problems w/corrupt files once in a while. I know of 2 that have failed on separate shoots and no one knew until my shop got the files for the edit. One of them was a POV crash cam in a car being driven off a cliff, so it SUCKED to lose that one.
That doesn't affect them as live feed cameras I guess, but otherwise you better make sure they aren't the only camera you 're counting on at a shoot.

Res, I've been using GoPro's for a while now but they are no good in low light situations. I don't have the newest model which is better in low light but from cats i've talked to, still not good enough for a dark club environment. As far as I know of, there is currently no consumer level product that is going to perform great in low club lighting. I do think it will happen soon though. If anyone does know of anything, please post.

I have been tracking and just purchased (last week) Canon's latest prosumer camera. The Canon Vixia HF M52 has some of the best low lighting optics / chips in it that I have seen for this price. About $750.00
I have only used it twice and there are some short clips over at www.facebook.com I can assure you that the club was much darker than the video looks like.
Personally I believe that for nightclubs this is the only camera to get.

Sanyo makes a small HD Camera called XACTI and they sell at Radio Shack for just under $200. They work very well in clubs and the condensor mic on the unit is awesome! Shoots in full 1920 x 1080 or any other resolution. SD Card for memory and I suggest getting 32G or more on the card for good long shots. Spare batteries are also a plus.

Go pro are not good for low light. Used them for mx racing and the mini moto sx. They sponsored us with them. They were made for outdoor action.
