Serato VSL vs Serato Video

Hi guys. I have a question. Is there a difference between Serato VSL and Serato Video? Because I have been having a lot of issues with VSL and I'm thinking of using another program to video DJ. I still have faith in Serato so I want to know. Is there a difference? Coz my Serato VSL crashed and there is no output window, until now. Will Serato Video have its own layout or will it be sharing with VSL? Kindly advice. If itch and Serato video works well, I plan to get the ddj-s1. I'm also considering ME. But like I said, if itch work well, I'd rather use itch.

yes there is a difference between the two. VSL is the old video plug in for SSL. Serato redid VSL and released Serato Video to take VSL's place. Serato Video is also compatible with Itch while VSL is not. at this point VSL will no longer be updated, and Serato Video will recieve updates.

it would prolly be in your best interest to upgrade your VSL license to a Serato Video license (which is free), and try the new serato video with a supported version of Scratchlive serato.com (2.4 and up) or Itch serato.com (2.2 and up). this might help to get rid of some of your crashing problems.

ME also has a free demo that you can try out www.inklen.com. the only thing about ME, it will only work with Scratchlive 2.3.3 and below. ME will NOT work with Scratchlive 2.4 and above (for now at least). also ME will NOT work with ITCH.

i believe both layouts are the same...

also if youre having problems... it wont hurt to open a trouble ticket serato.com, that way you can get official advice/support from Serato staff

for ssl users, they just renamed vsl to sv.

vsl only works with ssl 2.3 and lower. sv only works with 2.4 and higher....and now itch version 2.something..

That's not quite true skinny guy. They completely re-wrote the software from the ground up so that it would work with Itch and ScratchLive past versions 2.4 and beyond.
