Serato Video and ME Launch

Code:E 5:20 AM - 27 March, 2012
Well Im a forum rat as of late... and have been all over the ME forum at the same time....
Serato Video's Official release and ME 2.0 release where within minutes of each other. Not that i think there some sinister conspiracy going on, but it dose seem to be planned that way. Any thoughts as to why?
DJ Dub Cowboy 5:23 AM - 27 March, 2012
I thought that was hilarious myself.
Code:E 5:40 AM - 27 March, 2012
must have been some agreement to hold of me 2.0 until serato video came out? i couldnt really see it being the other way around.... Wonder if these means inklen and serato are still working out the 2.4 issues? We can only hope so.

I can assure you this was entirely by coincidence :)

Joshua Carl 2:48 PM - 27 March, 2012
DAMN New Zealanders always starting some shit, first Russel Crowe, now this.
Culprit 3:56 PM - 27 March, 2012
I am also waiting to buy the 62 until ME is supported, or any Serato software controlled hardware from now on. I have my itch controller for weddings and small gigs.
Frankie Glasses 8:16 PM - 27 March, 2012
I RETURNED my 62 because ME was not supported....

im not....

Maybe a club or some child who has no clue sure. But not a forum member.
I would be that there are 100x more users of serato than just the members on the forum.

I'm not buying a 62 for myself, and I won't be installing it in several venues because of the no-support-for-ME issue. It would be completely unacceptable to everyone involved to take the immediate backward step in video functionality that would result from installing a 62. Especially with ME 2.0 just released.

It may not be noticeably affecting 62 sales *right now* because demand for a hot new product typically outstrips supply and there's of course more DJ's not using video at all. But if the ME issue goes unresolved I think the sales impact (and collateral negative effect on the Serato/Rane ecosystem) will be quite significant.

It will probably prolong the desirability of the 57 much more than would otherwise have been the case.

well thats not fair!
I saw an interview with him a years back talking about growing up there.
Kinda like Canada and Pam Anderson...
but we will gladly Welcome her.... then again, letting Crowe goto Aus is probably a good look.
Henry GQ 9:37 PM - 27 March, 2012
im not ordering mine till serato video is where ME is... or they support ME again. sorry serato/rane
Joshua Carl 9:41 PM - 27 March, 2012
I think im going to buy one for audio only gigs...
the more and more i watch videos and such the more i want it....such a dope mixer.

This is the first 2 or 3 channel Rane mixer in history i did not buy immediatly after
it dropped... (we are talking days)

then if perhaps the kids in the playground work out their differences Ill have the mixer in hand
ready to go, and be up to par on its layout functionality.
Code:E 10:34 PM - 27 March, 2012
We can only hope that this playground disagrement is worked out in a timely fashion. We can argue who its hurting more (Serato, rane, inklen) But when it comes right down to it. Us the people the DJ's and VJ's are the one's suffering. All we ask for is a option! Even if it means a high cost to us. Some will bitch but thats fine we cant really complain is a viable and practical option is presented. (plugging in an SL box and not being able to use the MIDI functions of the 61 or 62 - Not Practical, using Serato video and lowering the quality of our video show experience - Not Viable)
popnwave 10:59 PM - 27 March, 2012
I think you guys keep defining this incorrectly. I don't get the impression that Serato did this out of spite or some sort of disagreement. The choice was made to add video to Itch and this meant a plugin be created from the ground up. For whatever reason this ended the output stream we so loved for ME use.

JC i feel you. the mixer is dope. i have one, i took it out the box and felt it up. definitely a better mixer than the 57. currently it's sitting in the box where it shall remain until i decide what to do with it.
Culprit 11:32 PM - 27 March, 2012
let me rephrase. Until Mix Emergency is supported or Serato Video is up to par with Mix Emergency. Lets just cross our fingers and hope we wont have to wait another 2 years for an update.

Agreed i dont believe it was out of spite either..... I dont think anybody really does.... And serato was not and should not be obligated to inform inklen about the change in there software. But it would have been nice if inklen was. Serato could have extended the olive branch buy giving inklen the information needed to update ME so continued fictionality seamlessly. Again no way obligated to and I cant really be mad at them for not. Its just feels like that olive branch was stuck in VJ's eyes instead, ME users like myself went over to ME (and i bought a MAC) because of continuous update's and features being mad available that that we desire. I dont think there would be nearly the outcry if serato Video was up to par with ME (or even in the same ball park) but right now Serato is tee ball and ME is the majors. Theres a very large gap. Again a sound business move on serato's part, and being close to finishing up my business degree i can understand why serato choose this route. But also being an ME user and a very vocal serato user about always using the the latest and greats version of serato this erks me personally.
On a side note im a grateful that serato allows us to all voice our opinions on this subjet without censorship. This is something most companies would never allow there own customers to say about there business choices on there own forum. I would know i work for a company that constantly delete's negatively toned criticism on there own social media pages.
AKIEM 12:18 AM - 28 March, 2012
I think it is a poor business strategy. And liken it to dropping iTunes support in order to focus on the Library - BEFORE the Library is up to par
popnwave 12:32 AM - 28 March, 2012
Well, if we all knew the perfect business plans we'd be on the Forbes list of richest people on earth :)

You know whats funny..... ME 2.0 was out 30mins before Serato Video was out.... LOL that was funny to me.
DJSURF 3:43 PM - 28 March, 2012
From a Dj point of view my conversion from Audio to Video has been one big nightmare over the past year !! I sure hope Serato fixed all the bugs in this newest Video launch !! Used the beta version just four weeks ago and it had some serious issues !! How could they possible correct these in such a short time !! Wish I could use ME but I'm a PC user and have had nothing but issues with Serato and video !! Will applaud them on their customer service tho !! At the present time I fell back to an older version 1.9.2 and everything for the most part is working fine!! I stand firm with Serato and support them I just really hope they get their act BACK on TRACK !!
Funkytownstopsix 4:02 PM - 28 March, 2012
What's sad about all of this is all they(serato) need to do is add is more plug-in's and the ability to record at the same time making a reliable like it use to be without all the glitches. With a solid product there would be no need for ME per say..... I am a ME Fan I won't update past 2.3.3 because I simply love to record my vid's without the need external shit to do it. Plus ME is just plan fun to deal with as far as all you can do. Wish the two would come together I also wish I could win a lotto same odds same chances.... and with the price of gas fudge.

thats definitly his problem and everybody else with a pc. If serato did ME route of just Mac only platform then it would be much better.

Or if they made a pc only team
And mac only team where mac would update faster with less problems

yep. sorry to say, but if you want to stay with the windows platform, vdj will run smoother.

all the guys running sv/vsl smoothly are on mac. the few that get it running after heavily tweaking their pc eventually turn to mac too.

sorry to say but serato has been trying it for years on pc and it just isn't the same as on the mac side. ever since vsl 1.0.
