differents types of ttm57?

this might seem weird, but it appears that different 57's have different functions!
my new residency just bought a 57 about a month or 6 weeks ago, and i have had it at home to practice with while waiting for the club to open(its a new spot).
so i gave it back to them when they were ready to open and been using it in the venue, all good!
then, a couple of weeks ago, i went and bought my own 57, from a rane distributor in hong kong.
the difference with mine is that it has alot more effects than the one on the club.
tonight i used 1.8 final, and the new effects didnt show up on my laptop, and it only had 4 time options on the left toggle switch for echos and other effects, when in group 6 . where as my one has all the new effects, and 8 time options on the left toggle switch, and it had all this with 1.7.4...even before i installed 1.8 !
so it appears that not all 57s are the same. also,, mine has slightly larger fader knobs than the one in the club. they are not as narrow at the top, and the white line in the center of the knob is a little thicker!
can anyone else verify this?

There are slight hardware variations you have noticed the fader knobs, also the buttons are slightly different.

Your mixer has more effects because you are running a newer firmware. One of the best features of the 57 is that the firmware can be upgraded to add more effects/features. You can ask the club to upgrade their mixer to the latest firmware. To upgrade just go into the setup screen on 1.8 and click the update firmware button. If there is no update button it means you are already on the latest version (3.03)

aaaah, yes,, i get it now:-P
i totally forgot about that! so the different fader knobs is normal,, thats good, as i had heard rumours that their are fake 57's going around china! definatley fake sl1 boxes are in circulation here! my boy says he saw one will incorrect spelling on it. serato was spelt sarato! and it was on sale too cheap!
but he could well have imagined it, he smokes alot :-p

dont have im afraid. alot of people are talking about them, saying they have seen them, but i havent personally, but the rumours are too widespread to not be true in my opinion!!
dj dsk would be a better person to ask, he been out here a long time, and gets around quite a bit. i reckon if anyone has seen one, he has!

I have seen a fake iPhone from China so a 57 is quite believeable. Those guys are always jackin and knockin off...

yeh, ive seen the fake iphones also.. and they seem to be every bit as good as the real thing!
j cue 9:37 PM - 15 December, 2007
as far as i know, the iphone is not yet legally allowed to be bought sold or used in china!

Fake iphones would be quite easy to make especially in china since they are probably made there. Fake 57 would be much harder it is manufactured by Rane at their own factory. You could make a mixer that looked like a 57 but it's not going to work with SSL.

i wouldnt put anything past them here. you can pick up a fake version of almost anything electronic in china. but i guess you are right. the 57 isnt exactly simple technology! but give them time, they will figure it out!!!
