I guess if this could work with SSL?
Or maybe Rane is working on something similar?

Allen & Heath is moving DJ technology forward with a new mixer/controller, the Xone:3D. The design is the amalgamation of a high performance DJ mixer, a multi-channel USB soundcard, and a MIDI control surface, offering a performance workstation that integrates all the tools of the modern DJ.
The mixer section is derived from the Xone:92 and Xone:62 designs, featuring four multi-input stereo channels, 3-band total kill EQ, a comprehensive cue system, two stereo returns, headphone monitor with mix/cue control, and high quality dual rail faders. 3D contains the Xone range's trademark VCF filters, offering low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass selection; resonance and frequency filters; plus there is an assignable LFO with depth control. The master section has two effects sends with pre/post fader selection, and there is a VCA crossfader.
The USB soundcard has eight channels, arranged in stereo pairs, which can operate in two modes - six channels from a PC and two returns, or four channels from a PC and four returns. The 24-bit stereo converters run at an audio sampling rate of 48 kHz. The soundcard can be fed from the main mix, FX1, or direct from the channels, and features a SPDIF optical and coaxial interface. Also, the USB connection sends and receives both audio and MIDI data to and from the PC, and can be used to update firmware and set mixer configuration data.

This looks like ideal for use with SSL and Ableton Live together... I don't think it will be cheap.

They have some matching plates for ableton...now we just need some for SSL ;-)

i will buy this no matter how much its costs, weights or how big it is. Its just EXACTLY what i was looking for. That small push/pull lever makes pitchbend finally available to sync Ableton effortlessly with other sources like SSL or CDJ's.
@tdo How reliable is that "word is 1000 GBP"?

I think it might be even more than that. They were quite cagey with the price, which normally isn't a good sign! But they could just be cautious.

johnDP1, you dn't even need that push/pull switch, it has got an auto bpm counter.

BPM counters generally don't send a tight enough MIDI clock for 100% accurate sync - hence why you need these kind of manual adjustment facilities.

thanks deft for the clarification. well generally without a pitchbending function i am pretty lost.
Some intelligent people say that the "true" way of doing that is to ride the pitch, but heck, thats like rotaries...not because people like Larry Levan used them and still some big ones still do that i need to use them myself...
Please let me know any slightest thing about pricing and availability...

Not totally related but I know JohnDP mentioned it to me a couple of weeks ago. I asked Ecler about a 'Nuo-6' (i.e. MIDI + FX) and they said "maybe next year".

I hope they give us mac compatible software as well.
Nuo 5 and 4 only have editors working on pcs - maybe it's possible to use them with Virtual PC.
I'm not much interested in effects now, because I want to start using the laptop for that as well.

The Xone 3D that is...
@Axcme, i don't want to sound arrogant but i know perfectly well how to mix and don' t really need the pitch riding skills. The normal pitching skills are enough for me.

I didn't want to sound arrogant either - I simply found that riding the pitch is better for me, my mixes are cleaner and longer.

Hi,
I just purchased an Allen & Heath Xone:3D which is supposed to be shipped on 05/06/06 it will replace my Ecler Nuo-4. I would have purchased the new Rane with integrated Scratch, but too limited on channels. Can the Xone:3D be set to control Scratch live or will I have to use Ableton live? FYI: DJMART.COM sold it to me for $2100!
Thanks,
DJ Orchazm

Apples and oranges.
ACME, I did not compare the two. I HATE the Traktor product so the only viable alternative to work in a live enviroment with the A & H XONE:3D is Ableton. Ableton can be configured very nicely for a DJ enviroment; obviously not as perfectly as SSL.
Can the A & H XONE:3D control SSL?

No. Not until they add midi support. Or at least that's my understanding thus far.

DJ Orchazm, did you really paid $2,100 for Zone 3D? I'm still waiting for their respond to my email if I can get it too for that price. Who is your contact? Plus, this is a brand new item not a b-stock, right? Let me know.
