Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

serato video with hdmi

Hitman303 5:14 PM - 28 February, 2012
Here is what I plan to use for video. I'll be connecting 2 lcd's with hdmi. This is for a mobile dj setup. Anyone doing something similar and would this work?

Hdmi splitter www.monoprice.com

Hdmi cable x2 www.monoprice.com

Minidisplay port to hdmi www.monoprice.com
DJ DisGrace 5:28 PM - 28 February, 2012
looks good.

might be worth getting the Apple minidisplay > HDMI in case there are any firmware upgrades that affect your displays
Hitman303 5:42 PM - 28 February, 2012
thanks DJ DisGrace. I'll probably get that one instead.
L2daGee 9:38 PM - 29 February, 2012
I personally would go VGA
Frankie Glasses 11:59 PM - 29 February, 2012
^^Why is that
Joshua Carl 2:56 AM - 1 March, 2012
rule of thumb.

always test them ALL before your gig.
lesson learned right here with HDMI 1.3 + Apple's MPD and 3d TVs...
L2daGee 3:24 AM - 1 March, 2012
VGA cables and splitters are less expensive.
Hitman303 5:10 AM - 1 March, 2012
Good advice Joshua, I had some trouble with a Samsung lcd tv but it worked on a Sony LCD, both with hdmi.

L2daGee - Which VGA cables and splitter would you recommend?
L2daGee 9:56 AM - 1 March, 2012
I've been using these for years, and have installed them in several clubs/lounges/bars.

www.monoprice.com

Just make sure the TVs you're trying to hook up to have VGA inputs. Most do, but better safe than sorry.

Personally i would spend, or make the bar/club spend the few extra dollars to make sure the vidz look the best.
Now if all of your vidz are from 8th wonder or a sub-par site, then i guess it wont matter having the best possible connections.

For the hell of it buy a 5ft $3.30 HDMI cable www.monoprice.com or even a cheaper one and for kicks try it out and if you cant tell the difference then return it to them.
Or If your just happy with VGA then its all good. Who am i to tell you what to do. But i really think you are hindering yourself on quality.
L2daGee 12:38 AM - 2 March, 2012
^VGA can support much higher resolutions than HDMI, so VGA is the best possible connection.

this is what I thought. VGA always gave me a crisp image
L2daGee 12:42 AM - 2 March, 2012
but I would go with both, you can never have too many different types of connections, cause you never know what the venue will require. Also might be wise to get regular composite or s-video to cover all bases.
DjChino3 4:49 PM - 2 March, 2012
I personally would go with DVI over VGA (Digital > Analog)
DJRemixEnt 10:10 PM - 2 March, 2012
I bought all of these exact components along with 4 32" emerson lcd tv's for my mobile gigs... been using all of them since september 2011 and have been running rock solid since, with no problems.

^^^^oh yeah, for the mini display port to hdmi... make sure you get the version 2, if you have a 2011 mbp or later, because the 1st generation one did not work with my 2011 17"mbp.

Joshua Carl 10:17 PM - 2 March, 2012
i dont know how your using it, but doesnt a 500 lumen projector seem very low?
(or is it 5000, typo?)
DJRemixEnt 10:18 PM - 2 March, 2012
500 lumen is correct, but in a dark club, it looks good on a 100" screen

must be the LED technology... I have a 2k lumen, and would not want anything less, especially for rear projection.
DJRemixEnt 10:22 PM - 2 March, 2012
i bought it just to try it out, ive got 2 other projectors @ 3500 lumens but ive had to replace bulbs and that shit aint cheap... the 500 is not as bright but in a dark club it def does the trick.
Joshua Carl 10:23 PM - 2 March, 2012
gotcha...

reason being I bought this ultra portable 2700 lumen projector for the same price.
and the thing rocks...

sadly i cant rememeber what it is right now.
but its about the size of a lunchbox from the 80s
DJRemixEnt 10:24 PM - 2 March, 2012
is it led?

thanks DJRemix, I appreciate your help with that. I'm getting same stuff as you except I already had the Moshi mini display adapter that I got from Apple, but I'm not sure if its v2.

Really nice setup Joshua, that screen looks really good.

i bought a distribution amp but it didn't work...

whats a good distribution amp for four plasma tvs 1x4

i have a macbook pro 13 inch

for VGA get this one:

djshutitdown 6:38 AM - 22 March, 2012
That's the one I got but it didn't work. It shows its a splitter not a distribution amp??
djshutitdown 6:54 AM - 22 March, 2012
www.atlona.com.

Would this one work???
Dj Nyce 3:00 PM - 22 March, 2012
video splitters are also known as distribution amps.

i've used that monoprice one before and it worked. if you only need to go to 4 plasmas than that's all you need.

plug in a known working source like a cable box or blu-ray player to make sure it's not your minidisplayport-to-hdmi adapter or mpb pro screen resolution.
djshutitdown 3:38 PM - 22 March, 2012
What are the settings that I have to see to set up before plugin in everything...i just got this one will this one work
m.bestbuy.com
DJRemixEnt 4:38 PM - 22 March, 2012
it should just be plug and play, with hdmi, your macbook pro should be able to automatically pick up the correct display settings. if not, you can always go to system pref ->displays, and manually change the settings from there.

one thing to note, with the newer MBP's with the thunderbolt port, some of the older Mini display adapters have not worked too well with the new thunderbolt technology, so make sure u get an adapter that is compatible with thunderbolt.

ive been using these since september last year with no problems:

okay so found the issue it was the hdmi cables.. i went to best buy to buy some just to test them out and it work. its a bit to pricey (2) 6ft hdmi cables for 50 dollars each.. where can i get some for cheaper i need (4) 25 feet..

this are the ones i got

Monoprice all the way for all you cabling needs. Best buy is marked up 300%.

After discovering Monoprice, I couldn't believe how much retail stores are ripping people off with their marked up pricing. The joke is on all the people who actually buy 6ft HDMI cables for $50. Yikes!
XRM5 8:54 PM - 22 March, 2012
There was a cable review online where everybody's 50-foot cables were compared for quality & compatibility & Monoprice actually won, beating Monster and everybody else. And they were also one of the cheapest.

DJMark 10:16 PM - 22 March, 2012
Cables are definitely one area where "you get what you pay for" is very often completely untrue.

In the SF Bay Area, the local Central Computer chain is a good source of reasonably-priced cables that seem to be at least as good as anything else out there.

Best Buy and Radio Shack are complete rip-offs. Monster is just selling fancier-looking versions of Made-In-China OEM cables that have no technical superiority whatsoever.
djshutitdown 11:52 PM - 22 March, 2012
Thanks for the feedback.. Ok so what HDMI cables are yall using from monoprice cuz theres so many on the website to choose from..

I usually go with the • Premium 24AWG HDMI High Speed Certified Male to Male Cables
but they all work great. I don't see the need to ever use the ones with ethernet.

Skimmed thru on my iPhone, but someone suggested VGA and I would agree. It's more universal and most every computer can handle it. I have found HDMI to be very picky depending output size, frequency... and the signal can also be finicky. VGA's native 800X600 gives a crisp picture, no one is playing 720 or 1080 videos.

I agree. VGA is also more affordable. Just make sure the TVs your hooking up to have a VGA port. Some older models do not.

alot of times you will see VGA on commerical-install types of TVs
(these usually have no speakers)

the good news, they usually have DVI if they dont have VGA.
and for the most part, 9/10x a simple vga-DVI adapter will work.
we arent running audio, so it dont matter if its DVI-d or a
