they only way i could figure out how to stream live with just my mixer and one laptop was run aux or booth output to the mic input of my laptop...which frankly sounds awful... is there another way to do this short of buying another dedicated computer with better inputs on the sound card? or is there a way to do this with only the mixer as sound card while using scratch live...

If you are running a line level into a mic input it will sound awful...Mic's are a lot lower than line level.
Try running it into a LINE IN if you have one, quite a few laptops dont have one tho so you would need an external soundcard.

thats my problem i dont have a line input only mic on my lappy...
i was just wondering or hoping there was some other configuration i could use with the 57 or maybe something new with the 62 that i cant think of..
since they are essentially sound cards also...

You can only record via usb on 62 but i doubt you would be able to stream that recording live. Not impossible but i don't think the software exists to allow this.

are you on a pc or mac? what model do you have?
most mic inputs double as a mic and/or line in. depending on which type of laptop you have will determine if you can configure the input properly.
i have recorded using the mic or line-in on a macbook, macbook pro, dell e6500 and a toshiba tecra m5.
also if you have the 62 you can use software such as winamp/shoutcast or Spacial SAM Cast and they will see it as a soundcard. You can stream that way as well.

Interesting, never though of that. Will have to try this and see how well the computer handles the additional load. It's stated we don't advise hooking both USB cords to the same computer though. Doesn't mean I can't try it though . hehehe *evil laugh*

Yea, I run a internet radio station and we broadcast live remotely all the time. I run SAM Broadcaster in my server farm and for the client notebooks I have SAM Cast installed. You can simply go into it's configuration and set the audio pipeline to take what's internally playing (in this case the Rane 62) and stream it's audio signal out the cloud.
IF the Rane 62 allows itself to use the ASIO drivers and the drivers necessary to run SSL at the same time.
Other than that, update your laptop or simply but a PCMCIA soundcard or something.
