Adding extra channels to your mixer

Here's my question, this could be a deal breaker for some people like me that are indecisive between the 68 and the new 62 coming out. Facts, 68 is 4 channels with 4 aux, and 62 is 2 channels with one aux. Here's my question, If I have a mixer, let's say and empath, and I run RCA outs of the empath into the AUX of a new 62 and use the 3 line channels plus aux off of the empath, will that give me 4 more lines running into the 62 such as samplers, effects machines, kaosillators etc. for live performances? Also how would this work for recording as well. Is it possible? Input from anybody welcome. Thanks.

Sixty two also has session in.
Mic input accept line in
And the flex loop in could be an extra input also
Thats 5 inputs than could work all together

Noted. Thanks. I just want a mixer to stick with that will fit my needs. 62 seems to fit the bill for me so far.

You could have 16 channel Mackie board running into the Aux input (or any of the line inputs) and have 16 more tracks of audio if you'd like:)
I suppose the question is how many different audio streams are you needing to use?

Realisticly, 2 turntables, a sampler, kaosillator, possibly and ipod and/or cd player in case of any computer freezes as back up. So total between 4-5 on live sets. I'm not seeing an aux port on the pics of the 62 though. Where are the aux ports?

Tino,
Take a look at the picture www.rane.com
another option:
If your Sampler and Kossilator both has input and output, you can daisy chain both together.
Flexfx loop Send ----> IN Sampler, Out Sampler -----> IN Kossilator, OUT Kossilator----> FlexFX Loop Return.
Then you can attach:
2 turntables: Analog Input 1 and 3
2 CD Players or ipod: Analog Input 2 and 4
Mic Input can become a Line (aux) Input : Ipod?
Session IN = another input.

Thanks alot bro! I thought about the daisy chaining actually. I do that now to sample vinyl into my sampler. I think I'm going to go with the the 62 since I primarily use 2 channels. I'm not a beat juggler. I stick mainly to hip hop and reggae. The sampler ans sp-6 on the 62 should be enough for me and the hot cues on the 62 put it up there with the 68. So I think the 62 is going to be it. Hopefully there will be no compatibility issues with my new mac when I get it as there always seems to be problems with hardware and software when a new product comes out.

I Think so too. Leaning towards it, unless the price of the TTM-57 severely drops, then I'll go for that. But for a few hundred bucks difference, I'd go with the 62.

I was just web browsing and came across this.....THE SELECTOR DJ DVS LINE SWITCHER.

Tino I am not sure how much samples you use but the 62 has 4x5 sp banks :)
And it is now a lot easier to toggle between the 4 banks since they are now right in front of you.
That switcher you do not need that. That is for swapping computers (DVS) without stopping a software program. Unless you are running a different software than serato,
62 and 68 handles that internally via the two USB ports.

Yeah, I could imagine! I watch some tutorials, and I feel like an idiot. I still have ALOT to learn compared to some of these DJs. I just want something with SL built in. I started out with Torq Xponent, then went to Numark V7, ITCH sucks, lags even on a macbook. I just want something to fit my needs and not have to upgrade anytime soon!

I might get the Z model just for the extra value being limited edition.

plus from what i read on the forums the cables that come with it are quite expensive and worth the extra 100$

Yeah, been reading the same. Truthfully I might ebay the cables for a few hundred to recoup some cash. Cables are cables in my opinion. You know someone out there just has to have them.

Ouch. Yeah I feel you man. I am dropping alot this year on gear. I'm still debating whether to get the new 62 or just go with a good used 57. I mean how much difference is there really? It is nice, don't get me wrong, but you're talking $1500 extra for just a new product (including a warranty). I don't know. I mainly mix in the bedroom, and do occasional gigs here and there. I'm not a club DJ. What are your thoughts on it? The most I think I would go on a used 57 is probably $800. That extra money could get me some Global Truss or some nice moving head lights. You name it.

Its a night and day difference between the 57 and 62.
Ive had a good run with the 57 for almost 6 years. No issues or repair. I take care of my equipment.
Better start doing more gigs:). More gigs more toys.

i cant really tell you yet....im in the same boat....i dont really do too many gigs... by choice....i mainly mix in my bedroom...
i mainly upgraded to a 62 because i could sell my 57 and take off half of that price tag....and i didnt wanna be bothered with the issues they are having with the usb 1.1 with newer laptops....
i love my 62 so far.... but it has alot less features (untill they make all the buttons mappable) of my old 57,,,,, but its so much easier to navigate without those groups buttons...
i can also hear the difference in the sound quality from the 62 to the 57....
if your not feelin or cant afford the price of a 62 and are pretty tech and dj savy id say go with the used 57 for now... but thats just my 2 cents

I appreciate the advice. If I play with it, no doubt I'll learn alot. I grasp stuff pretty fast especially when it music and technology combined LOL. I am buying a new macbook soon with 8 gigs of RAM and the 62 most likely. Plus I like the fact that I can have 2 computers plugged in at a gig ready to go just in case. I think you sold me on my choice without any doubts. Thanks Wicked! Just had to reassure myself. I'm horrible. I think I waste more gas driving to Guitar Center to look at shit before I buy it than the actual product costs LMAO. Now.....Do I get the z or the regular 62?

At X Trodinaire, how about a 62 "C"? LMAO. At Wicked, its got its advantages and disadvantages. You are probably like me, good with money overall.
