ok I should never have took my 57sl to the club

got a bit of a mad sat night gig here,

took mixer to club.. drink was spilt over the bottom be the reverse button on the right side near the headphone cue button.

other than the reverse button being a little sticky its alright but could I have caused some bad damage? I'm mainly worried about where exactly the serato software is located under the panels just so I know I haven't damaged that, the last thing I need is it to juststop working mid set.

also I noticed like a grease type solution in the joysticks, is that grease that's meant to be there to let he joysticks move around nicely or is that spillage

I'm never taking it there again

plz drop your help !

thanks

I think spilling liquid on it would prob. void your warranty, so your best bet is to power it off, then disassemble it completely and let it dry out before using it again.

Once that's done, take some rubbing alcohol to a que-tip and rub off the residue on the parts that got exposed to the liquid.

What exactly spilled anyway? If its vodka or a hard-ish liquor, you can let it dry out and be ok.

BTW: If you're not comfortable taking it apart, don't do it. I suggested that because if your warranty is indeed voided, then you have no other recourse anyway. I've repaired lots of spills on equipment a lot more sensitive than this mixer which is more than likely built to take a licking and keep ticking (considering its to be used in inconsistent club environments). Lemme know if any of this is useful.

Not to scare you Play, but spillage was most likely the root cause of failure for a 57 we had at the club I play at. Just stopped working mid set on the Saturday night DJ.... worse yet, I think it took a little time to sink in (did not fail immediately). Everything red-lined...just a hum from the board! Not cool. Manger sent it back to Rane... but I don't know if they covered it under warranty or not.

LOL!

Yeah, I always cover my mixer with a plastic bag when playing at clubs. Now I can't scratch anymore and I keep fucking up my mix.

This problem needs to be adressed!!!;-)
