Painting mixers plate, Question on sprays to make it smooth, slippery like

So I need to paint my mixers rotary plate, I used a flat black gloss and it looks nice but does anyone know how to get the plate to be as smooth as the mixers plate. When you touch pioneers mixers, they are smooth all around the top, kinda like they are waxed, I can't get the new plate to be slippery smooth like that, the plate has a little friction and feels a little tacky. Any ideas? Thanks guys

Thank you Dub, I probably shouldn't have to sand it, the plate was smooth but a little scratched, I sprayed it black gloss but now it's a little rough, You think maybe just clear coating would do the trick?

yes, but I recommend using whatever brand you used for the black. Then let cure for a couple days to a week (until it stops smelling like wet paint). Then the wet sanding will smooth it like glass. The spray doesn't go on perfectly flat no matter how flat the OG surface was. Use a sanding block and a really fine grit paper with water, like a 600 grit. You can even take it to a 1500 grit and make it shine.

Very cool. Thank you! I always thought sanding would rough it up, learn something new every day. Lol.

Thanks Pano, I am going to try the wet sanding later this week once its completely dry, if that does not come out the way I want, I will look for a local place that does anodizing

I'm betting if you do paint it and get it smooth, the paint won't last long. I would sand the paint off, polish the aluminum panel till it shines like chrome, then have it anodized. It will probably last a lot longer and look a lot better.

i tried for just the plate, you can't, you have to get the whole rotary kit which is $160
