Output assign question

Dizz 11:13 AM - 25 November, 2007
Will we be able to assign individual outputs to programs like ableton live any time soon?
The multi track out feature is as important to me as multi in!
Id love to use the 57 as my external mixer in conjuction with ableton live!
Cheers

You've been able to use the 57 as a mixer for ableton since it came out, are you on Mac or PC?

OK I tried this but it only allows multi track INPUT not output.
Basically I want to be able to assign output 1 + 2 (in live or logic) to channel 1 (on the 57) and output 3+4 to channel 2 but at the moment the 57 only lets you choose between channel 1 OR channel 2 as the output device.
Unless Im doin something horribly wrong?

Are you trying to use SSL at the same time?

I can't help on this, on a PC it's easy to do using ASIO, not sure how you go about it on a Mac though.

Nah, in my band, I use Live as my electronic drum kit. if Im using it like this, its so I can put the click track on 1 channel muted in headphones and have the other channel for drumming out the front of house.
At the mo Im using a motu ultralite which works great but seeing as the 57 is a 2 channel soundcard Id also like to use this too.

Any Mac users?
(thanks for the help anyway nobspangle)

nik, Dizz wants to use the mixer as a soundcard for Ableton. He wants to be able to send separate stereo channels to channel 1&2 on the mixer.
On windows you just go into the setup and tell Ableton that your ASIO device has 4 channels.

I presume you have to create an aggregate device similar to how Stuart describes in his guide here => homepage.mac.com except using the output channels rather than the inputs.
nik39 11:35 PM - 4 December, 2007
Yes, usually you can only use one ASIO device/soundcard, therefore you combined them as one aggregated device as described in the given link.
