looking to be an artist on sites such as crooklyn clan, strictlyhits, club edits

djbookz 6:54 AM - 10 February, 2012
Aside from my gigs, I like to keep busy and produce and remix when I can. looking to make some extra cash on the side. I heard the top guys on crooklyn clan are making like $2000+ a week, that would be nice if i can get to that level but i heard its almost impossible to get to clan. I'm on crack4djs right now and took a break for a bit, but looking to branch out if the rewards are better. there are a tons of remix sites out there such as strictly hits, clubedits, crooklyn clan. At this moment, what remix site is the best option and have the best rewards?
DJ Tecniq 8:51 AM - 10 February, 2012
strictly hits been long gone

i was just using the sites as examples, i know there are new ones and ones that been around, but it meant remix sites all in general.

lets see some examples off remixes?
Rebelguy 4:26 PM - 10 February, 2012
The money is nowhere close to what you think it is. Don't believe the hype.

This...

and you can't be an artist if you're just stealing real artists' works, nm
DJDBAG 5:43 PM - 10 February, 2012
also theres enough free HI-Q
remixes on soundcloud to not bother to pay for this type of stuff anymore

Exactly.

I was on Strictly and did it more for editing than the pay. One gig a month would net more than my average strictly pay. Notice I didn't say what type of gig, where, or what, so that could range from $200 to $1000, sorry I won't give specifics.

You're best best it to start an email blast and give it away for free, then either branch out or see if anyone will get you gigs from the people you emailed.

Hey, I'm coming to such and such town, anyone got any spots for me to get in?
etc.

my 2 cents. I make remixes for a DJ pool and I havent scene really anything from it. I know people download them but as far getting props and money I dont see any of it. Really its almost DJing on the radio for free just so everyone can hear you. Most guys dont get paid for making remixes unless your somewhat of big deal in the industry

Strictly speaking from a music perspective, were these from a few years ago? Hopefully this is not the stuff you are trying to submit to get on a site like Crooklyn.

Some of the top Crooklyn Clan guys ARE actually making 1-2k a month, easily. (I know because I speak with a few and they got the highest numbers on there). Again, Years back, they banked a lot more.

PUMA is extremely on point. The money was good at Strictly but we weren't banking like crazy. It was a great avenue for many of us to showcase our talents.

My personal eBlast has netted me more than any remix site. (BTW - Im on TheBeatFreakz.net now for the NU NU stuff for the clubs)

djpuma_gemini 12:28 AM - 11 February, 2012
Yeah 2K a month sure.
Not 8K a month.

I've spent about $7 on Crooklyn and that's too much for me.

That's a great place for latin refixes.
DJ Remy USA 2:02 PM - 11 February, 2012
I kinda don't like them now they all have that put your hands up hype at the beginning on almost every track it's kinda of annoying so I can really only use them for after peak hour throw back sets rather than using them for warming up

Seriuosly? $5 for an unauthorized bootleg mp3? People are selling completely original tracks on beatport for half the price...
