Lighting Suggestion

DjHelios 4:19 AM - 8 February, 2012
Doing some research online on upgrading my lighting. Not a clue where to start as it is tough to determine the quality of the lights through online videos. Looking to spend about $1000.00 Im mostly a wedding DJ. Liked the idea of two par lights led) but I want to achieve a overall package so I guess im looking for suggestions of lighting packages you are currently using.

Thanks in advance

research about 'led uplighting'... otherwise, if it's effect lighting you're after - then I would still recommend going with led effect lights - or a combination of the two (a grand won't get you too far if you want moving heads)

I got the bigger light stand at GC that spans over/across me at weddings. It kicks @$$ and definitely improves my effect as a... big deal : )

I been doing some more research and I am thinking
2 Revo 4's (Master Slave)
Connected to one of the channels on this light controller
123dj.com
And then on the other channel
Two Mega Tripars and one lazer (at least $200-300)
This way the set up switches between the revos 4 and the Par lights with the lazer.

Thoughts? is this decent for weddings

Thanks,
Helios

the revo4 won't really work well with that lighting controller, but they do work well in sound active mode - master/slave.
you would be better off with a dmx controller...

My suggestion, get only one Revo4 type effect to shine on the wall behind your DJ booth and use the below on the sides for effect on the dance floor.

I purchased these www.planetdj.com for the venue I I normally spin at. THe room isn't terribly large and they are very appropriate as far as brightness for a normal sized room. They're not the best but your budget is small. When a controller is used, one can come up with some decent shows. At my club, they used them in sound-active mode and they do just fine.

In my opinion, the Revo-type 'DOT' effects can be tiring after a while.

I don't use them. I just bought them for the restaurant and they have them mounted on the ceiling. Sound active mode.

You can get some decent scanners for 350 each and 2 uplights...

Mount all lights on a T-Bar, master/slave the scanners, master/slave the uplights. If you have any money left over you can buy one of those 100 dollar lasers from Elation or ADJ and point it at the ceiling.

My OPN: unless you can hang moving heads or mount the above crowd level you are wasting your time.
Spend your dollars on washing the room with color first.
