What size sub....Need help!!!!
Almost done deciding which new speakers to get, unless I change my mind last minute and go with Bose, I know for now I want to get 12" tops...most likely RCFs...either the Art 722s, the new D-12s or even maybe as main or backups the Art 312's (at $380 a piece brand new, and reading the reviews...those are very tempting not to have) Question is, I have Yorkville subs (the ls800ps that I use with my EF500P tops...HEAVY) I would like to use different subs for the speakers mentioned above....Should I go 18" or 15" and which ones? I loved the EV-ELX 112p and matching 18" subs, until a sub went out on me at a wedding (thermal shutdown for like 10 minutes) that is why I sold the EV set... any suggestion on sub size and brands for mostly 150-250 wedding events? TIA
PS/ The ones I've been looking at are:
Yorkville NX720P (15")
www.musiciansbuy.com
RCF SUB705 (15")
www.idjnow.com
RCF ART905 (15")
www.rcf.it

Check out the new powered Yamaha dsx or something series. I liked these way more than the ev el series.

i have a pair of the nx720Ps - they're alright for smaller corporate or wedding gigs but you're never going to get the boom of an 18" sub... much more portable than an 18" sub tho...
I do find they struggle a bit to keep up with my QSC K12s (if my k12s are at 12 with the crossover on, the subs have to be at around 3), but for the price, they sound pretty decent...

but considering the price of the RCF ART905 you can have a jbl vrx918sp which is one of the best small subs out.
