"Max Power Spec" for Itch?

My old PC is maxed out and on more than a few occasions now I've seen it struggle through me running multiple apps and generally just faffing about with too much stuff at any given time.
Two possible courses of action.
1. Change life long behavior
2. Spec a new machine and treat myself
I cant change - I'm just too old and set in my ways - CLEARLY a new pc is on the cards.
The question is - how much HW can Itch use.
Will it use 32gb of RAM if it's there? - will it benefit from multiple cores (i7)?
What can be done to get the best experience possible?
One condition - spec must be windows based..don't get me wrong I like fruits as much as the next man, but I'm not for mixing platforms.

Itch is a 32 bit program so all that ram won't help it, and it doesn't support mulithreading so it doesn't directly benefit from multiple cores.
HOWEVER if you must insist on running other apps at the same time, obviously those features will help the system overall.

I know you don't want to hear it, but truthfully the answer to that particular question is 'buy a Macbook Pro'.

Hadn't thought about it being 32bit..that's somewhat depressing - it means I need to adjust my behavior..darn...

That doesn't mean it can't work on a 64bit OS. It can...

Absolutely wrong......it uses multicore threads during analysis in offline mode, if you have 8 cpus, it will analyze 8 files as a time......to prevent audio drop outs on the main core running the midi/audio thread
When in online mode, it will hyperthread the analysis of an unanalyzed file while running in real time.....
Get an i7 and CHOOSE between PC or MAC......both properly spec'd will run flawlessly if you buy the right piece.

Sure, it will analyse files quicker. I was thinking more about actually playing, but you're right.

It also works while actually playing. If you have a track playing on deck 1 and you load an unanalyzed track to deck 2 (as an example) the analysis on load on deck 2 is hyperthreaded to the next incremental core so that core 1 does not get interrupted during the analysis and glitches in the program.

Maybe so. But you shouldn't be playing tracks that haven't been analysed in advance, in case they are corrupt.

most noobs don't know that nor will they figure it out unless it is blatantly put in their face for understanding.......also, some DJ's use tracks from customers > if they are paying the bill > therefore would end up playing tracks that may have not been scrubbed prior to the dj's gig.....you can't depend on all dj's to have zero corrupt tracks or a completely analyzed library, just not gonna happen......hence why they use hyperthreading where it's important and practical. I hear what your saying, but even the pros are subject to the gigs employer's wants/needs and can't be accounted for when these types of things come up.

@ Ragman
Thanks - am on win7 ult. 64bit. Application works - but it's just not FAST..It's workable but I get the distinct impression that some things should be faster.
@Phatbob
Too right I shouldn't be playing corrupt/unanalysed tracks ..such is life tho - only just got the Itch/Twitch and have a collection starting from back in the late 80s that I'd like to use. Take the time it takes to prep the lot I guess.
@Kittmaster
Ah good news - so there would be a point to getting a more up-to-date system after all. Cheers.
