Mixed in key for videos

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I cannot find it anywhere. Is there any program like Mixed in key that can be used to find the key of the videos on my computer that i use in VSL? I just started using Mixed In Key, but it does not yet offer video support.
Thanks, Matt

does that change anything in the video file after it reads the key that could affect ssl?
i would think not...but with how finicky ssl has been lately i want to clear my concerns before using it.

No issues with any files of mine, except a couple, but I'm pretty sure they were actually corrupt already for various reasons.

Its no issue. It can only be an issue if you tell MIK to rename your files.
But i didnt, it just adds the key to the tag in the comments.

cool. thank you.
now i just need to learn what keys work with what.
rad. another thing that will make deciding what songs to play next more difficult.

Looking for a little help. I have MIK5 and I have been analyzing my .mp4's, but their tags are not being written into SSL's key field. I've tried re-analyzing in both SSL and MIK, but still can't get it show up. Anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get the tags to show up?

They don't really write to the dedicated "key" field for mp4's yet. i use 'overwrite comment field'

Thanks DJ PopRoxx. I usually disable the comments from my library view, but I may have to add it back.

yeah. use "overwrite" and not "add to" comment field. i do it that way with MIK doing both key & bpm. that way when i sort the library by key (using comment field), it will be in key order AND bpm order ;)

You can sort by comment and copy the key info into the key column in batches of each key, for now.
But Glenn M from Serato has said that the ability to read the key tag from MIK is coming in 2.4, so you could just hang on for that.

I've spoken enough about THAT subject already...
If the library/tagging system is otherwise the same, I do wonder if maybe we could run 2.3.3 alongside an install of 2.4 and take advantage of that change... We'll have to see how it works. Or if indeed it is actually in there.

Copy keys from comment to key tag as above.
Smart crate rule: Key > Is > 1A.
Repeat for each key.
Done.

I love MIK5. It writes in the correct key field for MP4s but Serato doesn't recognize them... Traktor does see it as does other apps so it's just an SSL thing right now. There are work-arounds but I'm a purist who likes to keep the tags for what they were intended. Rather than fret about it or go through hoops copying tags to other fields, keep tagging properly and watch for the 2.4 update... I'm pretty sure it'll be supported there...

Ever since I enabled the key field in 2.2.x I've had no problems sorting by key in SSL.

scratch lives sees keys fine.
They won't add keys to the key field, you'll have to manually do it or in batches like above.

2.4 is out. Does SSL have the ability to read teh key tag from MIK? I didn't see that in the release notes.

Noob question?
Should I be seeing key in the column once analyzed in ssl?
All I get is audio key detection, no video key detection.
My MIK info populates the comment area perfectly, just not sure what I should or should not be seeing in the browser in ssl.

You have to turn the column on in your view inside SSL. Once it's checked you can see them.

The column is checked and viewable by right clicking on the tab bar, unless you mean someplace else.
I see only audio keys for some reason.

serato will not update the key info as of yet(2.3.3) you will have to manually enter them but its easy to do in batches by organizing your comment feild

This was not my question Bob and nak, I want to keep the info in the comment area, not import it.
What I am trying to figure out is why Serato can scan and display audio keys but not video keys after overviews are done. Is this only something that VSL can do? I do have the VSL demo version loaded up.
Thanks, not sure if I asked the right question.

For mp4 files, the initial key tag was being written by MIK but not read by SL.
It was being read for mp3s so they show up.
If you copied the key from the comments to the key field in SL, it would stick, so that was the workaround.
But now in 2.4 the initial key tags of mp4 files, that have been written by MIK, can be read by SL so they are loaded when you first import a track.

Ok .... What if scenario:
What if - you rescan your mp4 tags with 2.4 and then go back 2.3.3. Will the key tag show up in the correct field in 2.3.3?
Anyone tried this yet?

You asked a good question, but it's been answered multiple times in this thread. I asked the same question a week ago. The answer is that in versions 2.3.3 and earlier, SSL does not write the key in the Key field for .mp4's. In version 2.4, SSL does write keys in the key field for .mp4's. It does not matter if you have VSL or not. If you want to view the keys in the key field for .mp4's in version 2.3.3 or earlier, you must input them manually or write them in as a batch.

Looking at the release notes there is nothing relating to file handling or cues.
