Flying with a Flightcase

PacanHeat 9:01 PM - 5 February, 2012
Im taking my Numark NS7 on a plane, and I know i'll have to check it in. ( I know there is a fee for overweight items, but my cousin will be checking it in for me since all active duty persons get it for free)

Does anyone have any tips or what to expect?
How i should pack my Flight case? ( Foam, peanuts, airbags?.)
any other tips on how to secure the case. I plan on using those luggage straps with a lock.
thank you in advance

depends on the flight case, i know i would never take my odyssey case on a plane, a gator case maybe, but i would put it in a box, with lots of packing peanuts around the flight case and go that route, also i wouldn't lock it since if the tsa does check it then they will be breaking the lock to get in there...

I checked my 2 technics turntables in my oddyssey flight cases in an international flight last month. Everything was cool for the most part. The fine folks at Newark airport TSA did open one of my flight cases, and did an fucking terrible job of re-packing all the extra padding that I spent time meticulously placing around my tonearm. But since you are checking an NS7 there are no real loose parts except for the power cable. I would just tie that pretty tight with zip ties or whatever. But prepare for someone opening your case up and just throwing all your shit back in there. Best of luck bro!
