Serato Itch

I use a Pioneer DDJ-S1 with Itch and a Mac with an external hard drive and the latest itch software. Why is it that I can't eject any hard drive I plug in without closing itch first and when there is a song loaded I can't eject the song but you can do that in Scratchlive so what am I missing or doing wrong?BTW I also use 2 Denon 3700 with SL3 as my main console with no problems.

Any time a program is using an external HD an Operating System isn't gonna let that HD be ejected without closing the program first. That protects the HD. Control + Z can eject the last track loaded. I don't think there is an eject for each player though. Maybe in a later update.

Ctrl+alt+shift+left arrow ejects left deck

Ctrl+alt+shift+right arrow ejects right deck

That's good to know. A lot of buttons to press.....lol.

Yep thanks I went back and tried phatbob's suggestion and it worked and after doing that I was also able to eject the external without shutting down itch.

You have to make the itch page smaller so you can see the HD icon then click on it,drop down menu click eject.

So, I guess as long as no songs are loaded in the decks the HD can be ejected without shutting down Itch?

Thats correct and the same thing goes for SL but SL has an eject for each player which I'm hoping they fix for Itch.

I'm a bit anal about ejecting both decks and unplugging the controller before quitting... Don't think it's needed, just a bit OCD. I do it with Scratch Live too...

I still wouldn't suggest ejecting your External while SSL or ITCH is running. Both programs check up and constantly write to the database when closing out the program. If you eject the drive before closing the program out, you risk corrupting the database and if you use iTunes you can risk corrupting your iTunes library file.

+1

Also connecting drives whilst Itch is running.

It can be done, but it's not best practice.

I was doing a gig when another DJ I know wanted to connect a flash drive to my computer because he didn't have his computer and while I would usually say no I took a chance on him.Unfortunately we had to stop itch for the change over because as you know Mac only has two USB ports already being used.Thats when I switched to my itunes library to eject my external but couldn't do it.
