the infamous dj switch

SleepWalkNick 3:43 AM - 3 February, 2012
ok so heres the deal,
i have a set in a small club about 200-250 people,
i am the 2nd dj HOWEVER
i have a midi controller, and the dj before is just using the clubs cdj's and mixer
my problem is how would we switch without a break in music?
would i run the output of my controller to one of the channels in the mixer and use it that way? or would i have to take the RCA out of the club mixer and put it into my output? OR
is there a way im not seeing at all

Thanks in advance
Nick

^^^no doubt! Not a controller on the planet that i'd rather rock than a cdj or technic.

I love that scratch she does and the way she loops the word 'Girl' for a bit. I'm gonna try it tonight at work

If you can't DJ without your controller, stay in your bedroom.

it went pretty well, the only thing was the dj before me blowing the monitors in the booth, but other than that it all went well :)

its not that i cant dj without a controller, because i can, i just prefer taking a laptop around with me than a case load of cd's and it makes searching my library easier and its all alot more organized, as well as saving time burning new cd's every 2-3 weeks as new music comes out...

yeah i get that but at the time i couldn't afford buying the sl3 and the appropriate cdj's/mixer, so the midi controller was the cheaper option at the time

So.. without trying to sound like too much of a dick... Why are you asking this on a Serato forum? Is it at least an Itch controller?
