list them in the order you think they are more important for your needs at a gig when using serato video/vsl as 1 being the most important and 3 being the least....
1. Auto assign of random media clips, photos and quarts files to mp3s as soon as they are loaded to sl decks. (this would eliminate the headache of individually assigning clips/ photos to mp3s)
2. Auto trigger of Random transitions/effects by Vsl 2.0/itch as soon as an mp4 is loaded on to the decks
3. Ability to adjust the brightness, saturation and contrast of the main vsl output window that goes to the secondary screen.
note: the above is my top 3 preference for vsl 2.0
please list your own preference of the top basic 3 features you depend in M.E or vdj that you wish would be great to added on to vsl/itch video to enhance your experience with video scratchlive/ itch video it's released.

Most of the features m.e. has are pretty much a must have in vsl now, So I want vsl to come out with a game changer that makes me want to jump back on board, Not just try and play catch up with m.e.,

fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!
so let the dreaming and speculation for vsl 2.0 begin.................

1. video delay (for clubs/bars that the video has a delay or where the sound is delayed).
2. Media bank (So i can load the clubs/bars promo ads)
3. Output windows (i have them under the track info next to the decks)
But really ME is just sooo much better Serato Video will never catch up

Just want to mention that this is actually something that can be done (though in a less easy way) through System Preferences/Displays. From there go to the "Color" pane, then select "Calibrate...".
If you go through the whole process that follows, you'll have much more accurate results than you would just from adjusting brightness/saturation/contrast, though you might have to strike some compromises in a multi-screen environment with different types of displays.
But the nice thing about the calibration process as I've described it above is that if you play in multiple venues, you'll probably only have to do it once per venue if you're plugging directly in via VGA, DVI or HDMI. The selected settings will be remembered for the different places when you plug in.

That said, the feature I most need that's in ME but not VSL is video delay compensation.
Absolutely needed for any video conversion/distribution setup that involves latency. Even some displays on their own have noticeable latency when feeding video directly in.

play a bad video. all i have to do is find one of my old rendered video when i use cinematize.
there were 2 lines of code that interfered with vsl. had to buy quicktime pro to remove them.
anyway, the vid would create an annoying crash loop with vsl. ME would just show a green screen and keep working.

Here is a suggestion for some thing similar to media bank!!!
at least for the media bank all they have to do was instead of having us attach clips or image files to mp3 manually. They would have at least automated this future either by adding some rules in the smart crate where by you can create a smart crate with videoclips and images and have the rules in the smart crate say that when an mp3 or wave is loaded on a deck a random image or videos clip is automatically chosen from that smart crate and the image is projected to the video display output.....
what do u Guys think..

serato videos is here to stay and ME canned permanently out of future upgrades of scratch live.
on a business note i don't see a reason why Serato should care about a software that is not officially supported to munch off on them as a parasite on their resources for research and development of scratchlive and serato video.

Serato should care, because there are people who stay with scratch live because of ME. Scratch live is serato's main platform and serato video is secondary. People don't realize, but there are video DJ's that came to Serato because of ME. There was a symbiotic relationship and both parties were benefitting. So on a business note, serato may loose customers if ME decides to link up with another DVS system. Why, because ME is very responsive to their customers needs and addressed quickly. ME has a very loyal customer base and is growing even after the decision from Serato. ME is not going anywhere soon.

I'm not even a VJ and I like ME.
I would like to see the same standard of support ME has for Quartz Composer in serato video, that's about it. Most of my music doesn't have videos, but I'm intrigued by the possibilities QC offers for real time generation of visuals, there's a whole new world out there.

at one point, scratchlive dominated the market because of reliability.
nowadays, reliability seems to have gone down (with ppl sticking to older versions). other companies are starting to look more appealing (traktor) and just as reliable.
if traktor (or something similar) was able to support ME, a lot of people that prefer ME would jump ship. and all those who would want a serious video plugin (once you have tried both, you'll know) will definitely follow suit.

hahahaha lol @ people that prefer ME jumping ship........cause if you factor in the reality that those people already did jump ship by using ME instead of video scratch live plus don't forget those that just bought ME without even bothering to buy VSl.
For Serato it's a win win...Why?
1 . ME no longer can munch off R&D money for products they officially support. check
2. Their competitor ME has been boxed in a corner and will persuade a few users to come back to use serato video. check
3. The number of itch video users probably will out number the minority of mac only ME users which will equal more serato video sales. check
with that in mind i don't think serato is losing any sleep or business at all from a small group of Mac only ME users since they are gaining even a bigger group of 100 times plus video users from itch to replace That small group of mac only ME users that jumped ship from vsl to ME.

1. ME does its own research on the video end and when used with Scratch live, uses Serato's noise map to sync the audio with video. The addition of ME would actually lessen the burden on serato.
2. That's everyone's hope, but with 4-5 platforms to write, I doubt that is happening anytime soon.
3. Yes, maybe, but when itch users feel the same way as scratch live users, there will be more of this.
I'm not sure if you understand that a lot of Video DJ's do this for a living and take their gear and product performance seriously. And when a company chooses to give them an ultimatum that scarifies advancements, than people will start to look elsewhere for better or at least "good as" options.
Scratchlive is the bread and butter, not Serato Video. But since a majority of the money already came in early, serato is looking elsewhere. Serato doesn't make money on updates, so why put in the resources. Seriously thou, what the video DJ's are asking for is better for everyone, Serato gets to tax ME for timecode usage and ME gets to sell stable updates.
Why encourage and support product that doesn't actually hinders you from what you currently have.
Also everyone is pissed, because Rane stepped up and made an amazing mixer and a lot of video DJ's can't use it, unless they decide to step backwards in advancements and quality.

I hear ya but thats happens with all equipment, like using pioneer over gemini! Ect me is so advanced has all the great things tools ppl want sv does not so that is going backwards and sv is not as good quality as me so its a downgrade all round so that person may not think sv is professional and when they stopped supporting the product for two years to bring a new version that is more buggy and has the same features as three years ago is also not very professional. Each to there own but me users want back what they have been used to. Sure if sv had most of all mes features people prob would say this is a nice update and software. But its not. If you love sv thats brilliant but if people don't rant tgen serato is guna sit back and be like yeahhhhh we did enuff with sv! But now there having to see which features ppl are moaning for the most to try and design for another update. So ranting is good for serato. Saying there product is fine when its obviously not does nothing to help.

the same interchangable argument we have all been having over and over again for years.
*But surely their have been 2 decades of professional DJs using CDs
*Even more so now, much to my chagrin, you can be a professional dj without headphones.
*and if theres anything we have learnt in the last 3 years if that you can be a professional DJ without the use of serato.
but it boils down to a few key factors that exist in the "artist" side of us.
lets say, "hypothically", Jazzy Jeff does a show.
and uses a rack mounted Denon 1800f, a no headphones and PC DJ
(we already saw the hell that broke loose when he rocked traktor for a few shows)
we arent talking about the common folk here.
we are talking about the people in the industry, their heads would probably explode.
trickle that down....
people coin certain things as "this is what the pro's use"...
These are "Professional headphones", The "Shure m-44-7s are the standard needle of the professional DJ", The "Technics SL 1200 is a professional DJ turntable"
theres no committee that decides whats "professional" its word of mouth and true reputation of a product through use....
So, when some one eludes to Mix Emergency being a Professional Video solution its certainly no way a fact, or even a claim made by anyone of any significance who can deem such a title, And its def not implying its The only professional solution availible...
But when a vast number of the top Video Djs use it, sing its praise... and in this case
come to its defense, much like the 44-7, the sl 1200 & Serato when they were in there toddler phase, its slowly becoming a standard in which for others to be measured.
but much like turntables. using it, or anything doesent make you a professional or not.

As I've said in another post, if you do not have any critical feedback to offer, than please allow others to do so. Just because you are OK with the current situation, doesn't mean everyone else should be. No one is putting a gun to your head to read or reply to these post and some would probably like it if you didn't, unless you're going to offer something helpful.
There currently is no criteria for being a professional DJ, but for those pushing the art form and want the best, ME is currently the answer. From features and stability to video quality, ME is the most advanced program for a lot of us. If you're just going to the club and playing videos, than you could probably do that with iTunes and be good to go.
Seriously thou, if you have nothing helpful to say, than please allow others to do so, instead of just coming on here to go against the grain.
