SP-6 Bank Switching

DJ RaGu 7:48 PM - 24 January, 2012
Does anyone know or have experience with the Jammin Pro PD12 Midi Controller. I want to use this to play samples but more importantly switch banks on the fly since there is no keyboard shortcuts for switching banks, It has 4 banks which matches up to our sp-6 sampler. It seems cost effective and would give me more versatility at a much faster speed. Truly appreciate your input.

there is currently no way to map the sp6 banks to a midi controller as there are no keyborad shortcuts for it , right now your only options are using the mouse or itch contrller as long as your running itch 2.1

Hey DJ RaGu,

MIDI mapping in ITCH is not currently available so you wouldn't be able to MIDI map the SP6 functions to that controller. As Musically Minded said, in ITCH 2.1 you can now trigger your samples from your controller, and depending on what controller you have, switch between banks.

If you have any questions let me know :)

I'm not logan but here is how to do it.

To trigger a sample from your hardware you will need to enable the 'SP-6 Hardware Trigger Mode'. This is a button found to the left of the SP-6 drop-down menu box in the SP-6 tab.

Turning this on allows you to trigger your sample slots with the Cue Point buttons on your ITCH controller.
To trigger a sample slot press SHIFT + the respective cue button. For example if I want to trigger the sample that is in the second slot from the left, I would press Shift + CUE 2 on my ITCH controller

Numark V7/NS7/NS6, Pioneer DDJ-S1
Left deck :
Shift + Cue Points 1/2/3 = Triggers sample slots 1-3 respectively.
Shift + Cue Point 4/5 = Change to sample bank A/B respectively.
Right deck :
Shift + Cue Points 1/2/3 = Triggers sample slots 4-6 respectively.
Shift + Cue Point 4/5 = Change to sample bank C/D respectively

hope that helps guys!

Vestax VCI-300
Shift + Cue 1/2/3 and Out 1/2/3 buttons = Trigger sample slots 1-6 respectively.
This is mirrored on both sides. You can not change sample banks from the hardware with the VCI-300.

Can Samples be routed through FX in any way .... yet
Musically Minded 8:03 PM - 2 February, 2012
on certain controlls i would asume so, as in the ns6, cause i do believe you can route the sp6 to an open channel and then apply effects to that channel, but like i siad this is an asumption.

any one from serato wish to confirm?

Seem to remember that it works on the Twitch, if the SP6 is routed to the right deck, and I select that deck on the master fx, it effects the sample.

yes tried it last night and that is indeed the case, should it be required. thanks Bob

Im messing more and more with SP6 running loops, there are minor improvements that could be made,

would love the option to be able to drag a looped section from deck a or deck b to sampler slot (instead of whole track which currently happens) and be able to resave as new stock loop and rename it, that way, much easier than loading ableton or other software and chopping one

Yes you just need to apply the FX to the channel you have the SP6 routed too.

Yeah I like this idea too I know something similar has been brought up before. Loop and sample player functionality is going to get better and better as time goes on ;)

That would be a grate feature to add, also the ability to set cue points of your samples from the SP6

While we're on the subject, I'd love for it to carry the gain level from the deck. Having to re-level mid-performance after instant doubling to a deck is a bit of an annoyance to me - especially with no method of hardware control for such.
Deckgeneral 8:35 PM - 19 February, 2012
perhaps ability to drop level automatically after an instant double, to disguise the puming sound a bit better, if you forget to flip the fader.
